... Seriously though, I have come across a couple of positive reps these past months that, if I understand the rep rules correctly, shouldn't be valid. Another one is in post #46 in
this thread. I'm not jealous of other members getting rep, but reps like those are actually a bad example for new members. If they see rep comments like that, they think they can give rep with similar comments which in turn will probably be deleted, causing confusion or frustration with the rep system.
My point is this: it may be a little tricky to make people report their own ratings if they are positive, so I do think there should be some way to report rep comments directly. I think that, in practice, this will probably only happen rather rarely, so there is no need to "institutionalize" the reporting of rep comments. Would it be possible to directly send a PM to a supermod - who, as Alfa said above, can delete reps - with a link to a possibly invalid rep?
I know this is really nitpicking, but having more or less clearly invalid reps stand will only increase the chance of other members using similar rep comments, and so on.
