25B-NBOMe

[top]Introduction to 25B-NBOMe

[top]Introdution

25B-NBOMe is derived from the psychedelic phenethylamine 2C-B (4-bromo-2,5-dimethoxylphenethylamine) by substitution on the amine with a 2-methoxybenzyl (BOMe) group.

The drug is a very potent partial agonist of the 5HT-2A receptor (which belongs to the serotonin group of receptors) giving it its psychedelic effects.

[top]Legal Status of 25B-NBOMe

[top]United Nations

Uncontrolled

[top]USA

Uncontrolled at Federal and State level, though arguably may contravene the Federal Analog Act under certain circumstances given its structural and functional similarity to controlled substance 2C-B.

[top]EU

Legal

[top]United Kingdom

25B-NBOMe is uncontrolled in the United Kingdom, as N-benzyl derivatives of phenethylamine are not covered by the phenethylamine derivatives clause of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.
