Weird NaGHB reaction during conversion?

SWIM recently saw someone make a batch of NaGHB with a liter of GBL. Everything was normal except it started crystalizing before SWIM was even done cooking it. Before SWIM's friend even got the pot off the stove, the whole batch had practically solidified. It didn't even cool down and it rocked up completely. Anyone else have an experience like this? The stuff is good... really good.

SWIM still cannot post in the chemistry section or he would.
