question about percocet - first timer!

SWIM took 2, 5mg percocets an hour ago and doesn’t really feel anything. This is her first ever experience with drugs. She is experiencing a bit of light-headedness, itching, and drowsiness. She doesn’t feel any more relaxed than usual, she just feels normal. But then, she was quite nervous before taking the percs, as it was her first time. She isn’t as nervous now.

She wants to know, is there anything SWIM could do next time for the percs to have a greater effect (other than taking a higher dose, which she doesn’t want to do, unless it’s necessary)? She didn’t eat much during the day (cereal for breakfast, bagel and coffee for lunch, slice of pizza for dinner), and had neither a full or empty stomach. It was somewhere in between. Should she have skipped dinner? She swallowed both pills, without having split them. Swallowing is the ONLY way she will take pills, so will splitting them next time really make a difference? Or will it not really matter? SWIM is 5’ 6” and weighs about 145. Was 10mg too little? How long after taking the pills should she start to feel the effects? How long should they normally last?

Excellent. A new member who uses the search engine and knows who swim is to boot! I couldnt claim that. Welcome to the forum anon24601. I would say that splitting the pills wouldnt really make a difference, and that skipping dinner wouldnt either as it sounds like you didnt take the pills immediately afterwards. It sounds to me like you got the effects of the percs-light headed, drowsiness-its just that, like alot of people you werent to impressed with the opiate high. I find that after 1/2 of swallowing pills that i feel the effects and that they last about 3-4 hours. 10mg isnt really that big of a dose, even for a first timer so taking 3 next time wouldnt hurt.

yeah up the dose and keep taking more until you get disired effects that your happy with.

If you take a dose and are not feeling it, try eating a meal. It always
helps (swim) to eat something. The difference will be very noticeable.

four 5 mg should be a good starter dose for anyone, youll be pleasantly surprised by the euphoria but greatly disappointed by its brief length of action.Edited by: allyourbase

thanks for all the advice, everyone. SWIM decided to up the dosage and took 15mg a few minutes ago, so we'll see how that goes. swim willtake a higherdose each timetill she's satisfied with the effects. thanks again, everyone!

eh... the 15mg didn't work too well. SWIM didn't really feel anything other than REALLY DIZZY. she didn't even feel itchy. with the 10mg, she was itching like crazy, had very little dizzy-ness, and had a slight sense of euphoria. but with the 15mg, she didn't feel anything other than overwhelming dizzy-ness. the dizzy-ness was still there whenshe woke up (she took the pills around midnight)and continued till around noon. it really wasn't very fun. didshe possibly do something wrong this time? was 15 mg too much for thesecond time? or is SWIM just not suited for percs?Edited by: anonymous24601

Are you sure you are taking percocets? Try to research the markings on the pills, just to make sure what youre taking is oxycodone, because you definitely would have felt 15mg's. If not then I have no idea what the deal is. Try 20 mg's and if that doesnt work give up...ever try hydrocodone? Not as strong but it is different. Good luck

SWIM researched and they are generic percocets. does that make a difference? is it possible the dizzy-ness just overpowered all other effects?

no the drug being generic has nothing to do with it. the tylenol might, and some people get very ill from opiates, or from the combo of the oxy and the tylenol. my stomach has definantly built up a tolerance to digesting opiates, now i love and associate that feeling with "i'm about to be high!"


honestly try smoking some pot, it always enhances my high, and in fact i don't really enjoy op's unless i am blazed. that may be just me, however try doing a cold water extration, it is covered many times use the search engine on this site. i hate to think someone is not enjoying opiates, they are the whip.

it might be good to do a lower dose the first time because u can usually see what side effects happen to u. try upping the dose next time and what ever u feel this time will be bigger, that could include bad feelings as well as the good ones. if u can't handle the side effects that try something else next time.

Going against the grain here a bit, but try 10mg again a couple more times -- IMO you took plenty for your body weight.

Like many other drugs, it sort of takes a person's system time to "recognize" a new substance... the same way some people don't get high on coke the first time, or don't notice much of anything from marijuana. Am I correct that you have little or no experience with opiates in general? If so, then next time try using them in a very quiet setting, by yourself, focus on your body and the way you're feeling and I bet you'll start to "tune in" fast. IMO the setting always counts, even with primarily body highs like Percs.

If not -- then you're one of those who gets nothing but the negative side effects of opiates, & might as well just move on. That would be maybe 10% of the population, as a rough guess. Another probably 10% gets only the positive effects, most fall somewhere in the middle... bell curve sort of thing.Edited by: Nicaine

Try this it works for me...


Crush the pills up and take them with a Juice like apple, gadorade, fruit punch, etc.


Your body will process the pill faster because it will bind with the simple sugar and sugar is metabolized faster than say protein. Crushing them will release the oxycodone faster as your stomach will not have to dissolve the whole pill.


Also, i would try this with 10mg, if you are not as high as you want do another 10mg. Dont go up in 5mg increments or you will "burn off" the high before the next 5mg kicks in.
