Opinions - Which is best: Xanax (Alprazolam) or Valium (Diazepam)?

So im gonna make one more comparison of Benzo's..Which one overall is
the better one? I Tried Valium( up to 30mg) and very much enjoyed it.
anyone tryed both of these?

i personally prefer xanax, all around. i can just keep dosing on valium and still feel the same way but eventually i just want to sleep, not very fun. xanax i think someone can personally use the high in differant ways (as to be social, or sedated)


valium is long-acting benzodiazepine. the high doesn't come in as quickly or do you ever feel fucked up like you would from xanax, but you will be relaxed and buzzing. another thing i like to mix with a little bit of alcohol, but that is up to you. too much valium makes me want to sleep which is not the same with xanax.


xanax is a short-acting benzo. it hits you hard and quick. very strong noticeable high. 1-2.5mg are therapuetic doses, and 3 and above are nice for getting wasted. more than 4mg before you are used to it will leave you with no memory of the events beforehand. also one i like to mix with alcohol but only do thisif you are staying at 3mg bacause too much xanax and just enough alcohol could get you caught up in a bad situation. i like to mix both with marijuanaand/or a smallamount ofopiates.


be careful with any combinations. i have a strong tolerance to all the drugs mentioned, and i would recommend combos only once you are used to the drug and its effects. also benzo's can make you think, i am fucked up! i love it! and you want to keep redosing. be very cautious, as you can easily overdose.

Valium is nice. It's a pleasant buzz and won't completely fuck you up with alcohol. Xanax is MUCH stronger. It hits HARD. Knocks some people out. Also mixing with alcohol can lead to some amnesia. Xanax is my favorite, and is a very effective anxiolitic.

Valium?(overall) how much do you generally get? when i had valium i got
a pack of 90 pills each being 10mg..is the same amount usually given?
just in a lower mg for xanax..i remember to be almost out of it i had
to take about 4 Valiums

Xanax is more pleasant than valiums.


start w/ 2mg and go up from there. wait at least an hour. don't higher than 4 your first time, and maybe don't take the alcohol. i would think smoking weed, even just a little bit, would really enhance the experiance, and you would in no way get any kind of paranoia from the weed! Hell yea!

Are you asking for theraputic usesas in treatment of anxiety and the like? Or for recreational purposes?


Recreationally speaking. Most people enjoyxanax (alprazolam) more. Others find it toopotent for those purposes.Some prefer valium (diazepam). Different strokes for different folks.

I'd say valium for me.

30 - 50 mg are very nice and relaxing.

When i take Xanax, i just feel sleepy or at a lower dose ( 1 mg or less) i don't feel a thing.

Just be carefull, i had some bad experiences when it comes to addiction and withdrawel and stuff..

Trust me, you don't wanna go there..

Ive taken up to 600 mg of valium, TO NO EFFECT. keep in mind Im hyperkinetic though. xanax I love but only certain brands, half of xanax bars suck donkey balls, whereas one or two of the brands can really rock, the only kind I really ENJOY taking are the greenstone manufactured 2mg bars, right 'neath those are the geneva. name brand are about as good as the geneva, but none equal a greenstone.

very true Phreak, 8 .25mg's is the same as one 2mg bar. brands do not matter whatsoever. also the guy said he took 600mg of valium, are you sure about that #? that is probally enough to kill a horse

I personally like Valium much better. You just have to take decently
high doses of it to feel any effects (well at least that's how it is
for me). I feel it's more euphoric than Xanax. I'm prescribed to Xanax
and it is ok but I'd much rather have a script for Valium.

I agree 100%. when ppl r on one brand for so long, then end up getting generic, or sum other brand, you'll just have a placebo type affect, just because the pill you swallowed looks different. I did see sumthin on the news about a generic type drug working better then its brand name, because the fillers, combined with the active ingrediant somehow became more active in the system. I saw that a while back on tv. Anyone know what im talking about?

I like valium a lot better, it gives me a nicer buzz. Xanax just makes me to lazy to do anything productive. If noticed a lot of generic pills from other countries seem to be less potent than their american counter parts. I've always gotten valium from either europe and mexico, andI can tell you that they are either old or under dosed compared to the original US Rouche valiums. Edited by: tinogsx

comparing xanax is and valium is hard... its two different side of the sprectrum... one is short half life instense high the other is a long half life high, i love both. i prefer for long half life benzos klonopin over valium, valium makes me depressed, but my favorite short halflife benzo is hands down xanax

With me, Xanax is great for getting down from coke-highs, or as sleeping pills. Valium...I dunno what's wrong with me. I can take 50 mg and don't feel ONE SINGLE THING. Everyone keeps going on about the buzz, and how relaxing it is etc.


Does not do anything to me. Can hardly feel any effect at all. Complete bummer.


If I can get hold of it, Codein is the best, by faaaar.


I guess it's just different mentalities, tastes and tolerances and what you are looking for.

well where do you live? if you're at liberty to share maybe you could get some advice. but oxycontin is great stuff, and if you have any way period of getting it its worth it.

I've heard Valium is more euphoric, but I prefer Xanax. Especially with alcohol. but be careful, i totalled my best friends car on this ( I didnt mean to drive, complete lack of consciousness and lack of responsbility on my and my friends part) but anyways, Xan + Alcohol = FADED. This is an especially amazing combo when coming down from any uppers (coke/X/speed) it'll knock you the fuck out.I've slept 15 hours on this combo.
