San Pedro growing and Use general questions
Hello all. I have a friend who is interested in San Pedro to use the mescaline it produces. He is new to Cacti and had a few questions and wondered what you all thought.
1. Growing. He lives in a climate when year round outdoor growing is not possible due to very cold, snowy winters. He is interested in indoor growing, but it might be a financial burden among other things. Will San Pedro grow well indoors? And if so, will he have to use high powered artificial light like the ones used to grow another popular plant, ie MJ(he does have these lights)?
2. He read on Erowid that San Pedro plants usually grow enough to produce 1 or 2 "doses" of mescaline a year. Is that so? From purely a mescaline standpoint, is this a pretty long, inefficient way to go about it?
3. If he does decide to grow, he has the option to buy cuttings(6in, 12in, or crest cutting) or rooted cactus(8in or 12in). What do you think is the best way to start growing?
4. If he buys cuttings, could these be used to prepare mescaline by blending and boiling, powdering, or making tea when they arrive? It would seem that they are ready for use when they arrive, but like I said, he is new to cacti and isn't sure if these cutting are too young, not the right part of the plant, etc etc..
Thanks all. My friend has done some research, and continues to do so, but he likes to get "real time" answers from experienced people and utilize as many good sources as he can. He likes how many knowledgable people there are here and values their opinions . He is also somewhat weary of getting advice from sites that gives information that may be influenced by financial motives, as well as getting outdated info. Thanks again.
