GHB Withdrawal

Is it normal to have numbness in the limbs during GHB withdrawal? SWIM has been drinking vodka around the clock to counter the shakes and be able to sleep but now they have this strange numbness in their hands/wrists and feet/lower legs.

I'm wondering if the batch used was more toxic in some way or if they just got to a point where their tolerance was too high. SWIM was using up to 6 grams of GHB to barely counter WD, that used to put themto sleep but eventually it didn't even do that for more then 1 hour.

The last dose was yesterday morning at about 6 grams so that they could sleep for 2 hours. This is only 1 month of 24/7 GHB use and they got to a point where it wasn't working any more or wasn't pleasant feeling so figured they would stop taking it. Now they are shaky even if drinking vodka but it does help a bit to counter the bad feelings, I figure this is the best route to go and then they can wean off the vodka afterwards.

Is it normal to get a high tolerance to the good effects that fast?

Thanks!,

Re: GHB Withdrawal

Hi,

Yes, it is possible to build tolerance quickly. Just like benzodiazeines and alcohol, GHB works on the GABA receptors in the brain. GABA is a calming neurotransmitter. Just like benzo's and alcohol, GHB builds tolerance and dependance. SWIY should NOT stop GHB SUDDENLY after prolonged use. SWIY should go on a withdrawal schedual, please seek professional help. They will give you a drug which also acts upon the GABA receptor and then slowly decrease the dose over some time. If one suddenly stops taking GHB, the brain which is used to loads of calming GABA, now gets exposed to loads of stimuli and this can be very dangerous. Talk to a doctor or surf the internet to find a professional which can help with GHB withdrawal.

Good luck.

Re: GHB Withdrawal

Thanks, I'm sorry about the first person deal. Swim has tried to edit SWIDN's post but was unable to. Swim wasn't thinking clearly at the time.

Well now he knows that it's possible to build tolerance so fast if he gets greedy, and boy did he get greedy.

The good ole doc would be a good choice but SWIM is out of cash at the moment so has resorted to drinking until the worst is over which is pretty awful. Swim doesn't really enjoy the normal drunken state but enjoys GHB for some reason. It was just kind of surprising how fast his tolerance built up this time around, and the limb numbness is new to him as well.

It is salty and boils down to powder so swim must assume it was GHB and not something else.

Thanks,
-Dead-N

Re: GHB Withdrawal

Swim hopes that this will be good advice for others. It seems that if one needs to go over 3 grams of GHB to get a "high" that they should probably just cut back since there are more side effects at the higher end. Maybe 2x 3 or 4.5 gram doses for sleep only are ok but it's not a good idea to have to dose at 6grams + just to feel it a bit.

This is usually followed by unpleasant feelings anyway at that high of a dose and isn't recommended if you are going for a positive experience. It's a really good sign that you are becoming physically addicted to the substance and should step back on your dose until you either don't need it or can moderate it's use the way it's meant to be used.

It is uncharted territory messing that type of dosing every few hours and is a bad idea. Swim isn't downing GHB but wants to let it be known that for some people it is possible to quickly get tolerance/addiction.

Swim also read around and found that the limb numbness is some what normal at higher doses taken often. Excitoxicity (SP?) I guess is what it is called.

Hoping it isn't actual nerve damage but SWIM would deserve it if it was.

Re: GHB Withdrawal

Swim got similar sensations of nerve damage in his left hand and left foot during G withdrawals from 24/7 use for about a week and a half. The numbness will go away along with the rest of G withdrawal symptoms, don't worry.

Re: GHB Withdrawal

What were SWIY's doses and how many times a day and night did SWIY use. SWIM noticed that SWIY said every 3 hours. Was 6 grams SWIY's typical dose? How many grams does SWIY think he used thoughout a 24 hour period?

Re: GHB Withdrawal

Swim was dosing at 4-6 grams per 3 or 4 hours, depending on what he was doing(about 6 times a day, so 24-36 grams including sleep doses). It started at 2grams but escalated quickly this time around. Swim has been using it for over 10 years though but always tried to keep it broken up enough. It didn't work this time.

The good news is that Swim is back at a level where he is able to sort of taper on under 4 grams now so it does go back pretty rapidly as well. Also when the dose got smaller so did a lot of the weird side effects that felt like nerve damage and dysphoria in general. Very strange mind/body sensations.

Hope it helps,
-DN

a tolerance to this can be built up in a week. swim thinks that it is more fun than anything on this site, but he always gets into a little, or a lot of trouble, usually makes an ass of himself at least once going through a 16oz bottle.

even after a good weekend, usually sunday night was real tough to sleep. to intentionally go down, it takes a lot more the end of the weekend. a week straight, expect to feel a little funny. it's a lot of fun, but there's a real thin line. if you take a break for a couple weeks, you'll your tolerance should get back to where it was( i think) it might take more than a couple weeks

The drug itself is really not the big danger, it's trying to drive on it. and the clubs, yeah fun, but a little too muh and your in a ambulance. If your safe at home with friends, a few honeys, if you fuck up, not a big deal.
be careful

Re: GHB Withdrawal

Try Vitamin B complex to help with nerve problems

I would also recommend the amazing medicine Pregabalin. Swim was able to break a bad addiction with the help of this. Please read his story that he just posted.
