Extraction - Is my San Pedro Extract Still Good?

About a year and a half ago swim had an idea to order some San Pedro cactus and do an alcohol extraction on it, resulting in a brownish sticky tar in which he rolled into balls with flour to prevent the stickiness and make them more manageable. Anyways, swim knows that when he first made the extract it was good because he tried it once with good results, but then put it away in an air tight jar and forgot about it until recently. It still looks and smells the same as it did when he made it but it has set for a long time and swim hopes it hasn't spoiled. Swim read in one thread that the tea can go bad quickly, but then the alkaloids extracted from that, leaving me to believe it should be fine since he extracted the mescaline with alcohol over a month's time with three pulls/filters. Swim just wants to ensure he won't be ingesting something possibly rotten or toxic that may do more than swim intended, so any possible ideas or suggestions are welcome.
