Tea making tips.

Hey all SWIM just had a question about making tea. He made Kratom tea by putting the leaf directly in the water, and letting it steep in a low boil for about 15 mins. Seemed to work well.

He then made some scullcap tea by putting the scullcap in a tea ball, then adding boiling water to his cup with the tea ball in it, and letting it steep in his glass for about 15 mins. Seemed to work well also.

Now my question is, is one method better than the other as far as getting the maxium effects? I read that actually boiling the material in the water releases more alkaloids, thus producing more effects. I also read that letting it steep in your glass with the tea ball is just as effective. Any thoughts?

Oh and lastly, if i do boil the material in a pot, will it lose effectiveness if I add more water then boil the excess off at the end? Im still working at getting the right amount of water to start with! So if I boil some excess off, am I losing alkaloids, or just water?

Thanks all.
