GBL to be banned in UK

Swims sure most of you have heard this already.
Swim was going to post a link to times online and their story but cant as <50 posts. Anyway Times Online went with the headline "Date-rape chemical to be banned". Times is a decent paper why do they need to spout bullshit...just say GBL, assholes.

Anyway as this stuff will be illegal soon my gorilla thought he should try it while it is still available legally. How buzzing would my gorilla get/what social situations is it good in/any other info you care to add? Does it mix well with stimulants?

Re: GBL to be banned in UK

SWIM is in pretty much the same situation as SWIAaah Zombie, as in he's never got round to trying this interesting substance and now the mindless prohibitionists seem determined to prevent him ever doing so (having banned the much safer cousin GHB a several years previously, again under the wretched "date-rape" argument). SWIY should not be surprised at The Times sponsoring this move, being a centre-right, Murdoch-owned enterprise, but unfortunately the right-wing press has a lot to do with the UK government clamping down slowly over the years on many of the most effective "legal highs".
Anyway, if SWIM is going to get his hands on this stuff while it's still available legally, how much will he need to last him long term should he become partial to its qualities? The likelihood is that he will, despite being a GBL/GHB novice, given his general liking for GABA related substances (except, strangely, alcohol). He knows the doses needed are miniscule, but doesn't really know how much he'd need to last him a few months, with the strong intention to use it in moderation, and maybe decide to keep it even longer for a time when he can appreciate it more (he's currently on MMT, plus a cocktail of 4 prescription drugs, not to mention frequent usage of benzos). Is the stuff cheap, without mentioning exact prices?

Re: GBL to be banned in UK

Just the usual scaremongering tactics, particularly the date-rape rubbish mentioned by SWIM above. Legal Highs have unfortunately become a bit of a hot topic ATM in the UK with BZP and Spice set to go too. The government seems to periodically ban certain legal highs if the medical profession and press highlight the suppossed risks of these substances. Kava, Ephedra and Magic Mushrooms have all fallen by the wayside over the last 5 years or so, so this is not that surprising really. SWIM thought BZP had been illegal for 2 or 3 years already but obviously things move slowly through parliament. Also, there's the small matter of a general election round the corner!

Re: GBL to be banned in UK

Although swim enjoys G he is aware that this substance has a lot of potential for harm in that it is so easy to overdose. Of course the media exagerates this, making out that just a little more than a recreational dose will put you in a coma or worse, but the fact remains that this stuff is more likely to kill you than many illegal drugs if you aren't careful. Given this fact, it was inevitable that the government would act eventually. I understand that it won't be 'illegal' , it will simply be restricted to 'legitimate ' users. Time to set up a graffiti removal business, he thinks!

Re: GBL to be banned in UK

SWIM would probably recommend stocking up before the ban while it's still possible and legal but after Decemeber SWIY is breaking the law.

Only legit vendors now to get GBL from are the oversea ones. I am not sure if they'll still risk shipping to the UK once GBL is illegal here but either way it's still a risk to take.

The ban should be around December time, we will probably hear a set date about then.
