pounding heartbeat, severe vomiting, intense visual disturbances...no kratom effects

Today my friend - having abstained from kratom for the last month or so - had a sudden craving, and bought some 15x extract from his local headshop.
Unfortunately the rules forbid me from revealing the brand...suffice to say it is from a well-known supplier.

Being very experienced with kratom (as well as pretty much every other psychoactive substance), and aware of the weakness of these extracts - which he normally avoids - he swallowed 4g of the powder (which certainly looked and smelled like kratom) in some water.

What followed was highly unpleasant: pounding heartbeat, severe vomiting, intense visual disturbances...and no kratom effects whatsoever. The closest thing he could compare it to was an overdose of 5-MeO-DMT a few years back, and he currently feels pretty poisoned. This extract was adulterated with some kind of toxic pseudo-psychedelic (BZP perhaps?), and I feel it is important to alert people to this.

Can anyone shed any light? The supplier is a UK based wholesaler...if there is some way I can give more details without breaking the rules then please let me know.

mrbohn1 added 5 Minutes and 43 Seconds later...

PS - the "addiction" tag was a typo...happily the only thing my friend is currently addicted to is caffeine!

Re: Supplier warning?

swim does not think there is any rules about talking about the brand. people talk about spice gold all the time, the rule is against talking about suppliers. swim did hear about some kratom being laced with a synthetic, but doesn't really know much about it

swim has had a bad experience taking high extract content kratom. 2 grams of UEI kratom mad swim have poor motor coordination, visual distortion, extemely hard to stay awake, nausea & vomiting.

Re: Supplier warning?

the symptoms you describe are typical for taking too much kratom...this is something entirely different.

By brand I really meant supplier...I just hope this was a one-off and not a contaminated batch or something.

Re: Supplier warning?

man having a bag of powdered stuff that comes from a third world country can spell trouble... now that swim thinks about it how hard would it be to powder something else with it... never know... dont but from head shops... all of it is crap or tainted...

Re: Supplier warning?

What SWIM would say is that people need to learn a lesson from this and NOT buy Kratom from headshops that generally stock low grade Kratom. SWIM has bought from these plase before and has ALWAYS been ripped off. Search the net, search specific forums and find good Kratom suppliers in your country (there are definitely some in the UK) or good suppliers that ship to your country. Headshops sell the lowest grade Kratom SWIM has seen so just beware.
BUT after saying all that, SWIM has also known that Kratom OD does produce effects similar to what was described in some people, so maybe SWIY just over did it.

Re: Supplier warning?

Was it the brand that comes in the little glass tubes? SWIM had some of that from her local headshop about a month ago and both her and her pet bear had most inclement effects. They only had about 2/3 of the tube and got sick. They're both experienced kratom users too btw.

SWIM agress with Ace that headshops aren't the ideal place to buy K but then we all know that 24 hour garages aren't the best value place to buy provisions yet we all still do it.

SS.

Re: Supplier warning?

ha yes...the problem with convenience stores is that they are so damn convenient.

My friend thankfully does not seem to have suffered any lasting ill effects, but I'd advise people to stay away from this stuff...buying leaf rather than extract, and getting it from reputable supplier is always the way to go.

The stuff I had was in a plastic tube, the cardboard packaging had a photo of some kind of jungle scene, and the name of the supplier has "salvia" in it.

Re: pounding heartbeat, severe vomiting, intense visual disturbances...no kratom effe

SWIM surmises that low-grade Ethnos in general can sometimes be a casualty of buying from headshops. When she first tried Salvia a few years ago, she bought from a smoke shop and it was quite good. Then a few months ago she bought from a different shop (because the first had stopped selling it due to Salvia's grow rep) and it was labeled to be twice as strong (and more expensive), but was not even close to the stuff she had gotten previously some time ago.

She saw Kratom there as well and almost bought some, but thought better of it and decided to order some online instead. SWIM did a lot of research before purchasing her Kratom because she wasn't too eager to lose more money like she had done with the Salvia. She thinks that it was a better investment than to buy the overpriced stuff she had seen at the smoke shop.

SWIM says have fun and be safe. ^_^
