I was caught with paraphernalia, I need some advice
The thread title is a quotation from a friend who recently told me a story.
SWIM's parents are recently divorced. SWIM kept all his paraphernalia at his mothers house. SWIM was fine until today his father stopped by at the house to drop SWIM's brother off. SWIM's dad went looking for tape and encountered SWIM's stash. Basically, what he found was irrefutable proof of pot-smoking; 3 lighters, a light-bulb vaporizer, visine, body spray, and a glass bowl. Additionally, there was a water bottle filled with alcohol and a tic-tac container with a doi pill.
SWIM's father took only the lighters, vaporizer, and glass bowl. There was no actual weed or residue.
SWIM's father didn't say anything to SWIM tonight, no weird expression, no confrontation. SWIM suspects, however, that his dad will confront him about the issue in the near future.
SWIM will most likely confess to the alcohol and weed if he's approached about it. Until now, SWIM has held a strong trust with his father, due to his good grades and non-rebellious behavior. SWIM has been really accepting to his father about his decision to divorce SWIM's mother. In general, SWIM's dad has proved to be a really reasonable person, and in the long run has never been too harsh on SWIM's wrongdoings. However, SWIM's dad seems to not find drug's effects to be positive. SWIM's evidence for this is that a) SWIM's father seems to be a light/responsible drinker, and SWIM's father refused to take his prescribed pain meds after a kidney stone since he detested the effects so much.
SWIM is by no means an addict or a heavy pot smoker, having only smoked about 6 times ever. He hasn't consumed alcohol more than 8 times or so. SWIM plans to lay off these drugs until he at least is at his own place.
SWIM is hoping for advice about how SWIM should respond to his dad if his dad calls him out on it, which is quite likely.
SWIM is thinking of a combination of the divorce card and genuine admission of guilt.
Serious/thoughtful replies are appreciated. Thanks.
