I do not know. It is possible that the active compounds are broken down by mono amino oxidase, but it's worth the try. Let us know how it goes!

Ok try this I DONT KNOW if i work but it might

simmer the leaves at a very low heat in butter(in attempt to extract salvinorin from leaves to butter)..

use the butter to prepare the brownies..

with marijuana this method works well

hmmm I doubt your results will be very good. Salvia is very finicky and even if you were to achieve any effect it would be very inefficient and require large amounts of plant material.

im not sure but i thought it was known that heat kills salvia (sortof how heat kills mush) and that cooking it would destroy any active chem... smoking it youdirectly inhale the vapors.. butthis might just be heresay

It wont work the only way to get oral effects from salvia is from mucus glands in your mouth you use a quid and chew on it or put it under your tounge for 15-30 minutes to get effect if you just swallow it you will get no effects. (Thats at least what i've read from all my research but i garantee its all 100% fact)

this will work, if you take 30 minutes to eat a brownie before
swallowing it... salvia has to be absorbed through the mouth,
swallowing it kills it

It can't be broken by MAO, it's not an alkaloid. It hos no amino group. It works for pot because at a temp of about 140 C cannabinodic acids turn into cannabinoids.Salwinorin is just stored in the plant material. Why would you want to evaproate it by heating it to such a degree. And it is very weakly orraly active in comparisson to smoking.I see no meaning in what are you trying to do!

Re: Salvia divinorum Brownies?!?

Among some medical marijuana users who cannot smoke for health reasons, the butter-sauteed pot -- rather than being baked into brownies --is simply flavored, i.e., sugar, etc. and absorbed sublingually and/or consumed as-is.

I've also heard of this being administered rectally and vaginally, where there are still more mucous membranes than the mouth. (possibly if you filtered it well enough it might be inserted into a nostril, like vix?)

I have never tried the above.

However, as a home herbalist, if I want to increase bioavailability, I have gently simmered herbs in a little coconut milk.

And sometimes I have added capsicum (cayenne) and / or digestive enyzmes to the mix, which should further potentiates the herbs. I don't know if all of these things worked or just some of them did, but these mixtures have generally turned out to be significantly more potent.

Butter, coconut milk, raw egg -- I would think any naturally homogenized food containing both water and fat would work.

Personally, I avoid smoking anything like a plague, since my most extreme physical addiction ever, one I have been fighting all my life, is to cigarettes.

Knowing you've gone from zero cigs to four packs a day within a couple of weeks makes you very creative at avoiding smoke.

btw, there's a rather long thread in this forum about anal administration of salvia; my guess is, the hypothetical experiement might have been more successful with a bit of effort toward making it more bioavailable.

If I learn of any other similar trials, I'll definitely repost!
