No Withdrawl?

For rougly 2 weeks SWIM was using GBL pretty extensively he was going through a very bad time and found it was away of numbing his emotions. He has now stopped and been off it for 5 days completely. He stopped after his final extremely large dose one night that caused him to spew everywhere.

SWIM would drink bottles of juice that he would add between 2-3ml of GBL to through out the entire day. He would drink each 2-3ml over the course of an hour or so and then quickly drink 2-3ml before bed to help him nod off, first he would prepare himself some more to drink for when he woke up in the morning though. SWIM would occasionaly take some uppers with the GBL he felt like being hyper. SWIM was using GBL before this 2 week period but not exstesivly at all. SWIM was worried about nasty withdrawls and was waiting for them, if they did come he was going to just start tapering doses. They have never come though, I have had some very small cravings to take GBL but that is it.

SWIM has been clean of uppers for a week and a half and clean of GBL for 5 days he is taking no other drugs and hasnt even drunk alcohol in the last week. Any reason for no withdrawl, was 2 weeks all be it heavy intake of the drug just not enough to induce withdrawl?

That would indeed be the main reason. How many times was SWIY dosing up every day? From what SWIY has written it seems like SWIY was taking about 6ml a day, that is probably not enough to cause addiction.

Re: No Withdrawl?

No no was much more than 6ml a day, SWIM would say inbetween 15-20ml maybe more depending on how long he was awake that day. Was much more than 6ml though. SWIM re-dosed again yesterday after some particularly bad events but has told himself when this batch runs out he will not be re-ordering.

Re: No Withdrawl?

This is a curious thing. I've heard from an experienced (ab)user that duration of use was not always directly proportional to intensity of withdrawal. He found once that a binge of one week (and at a separate time a binge of two weeks) produced almost no withdrawals while at another time a two week binge produced life threatening withdrawals. Another time a mere week long binge produced no withdrawals for the first 12 hours at which point severe delerium, tremor and insomnia developed but almost no other symptoms occured.

Also I believe "kindling" occurs with G withdrawal, as it does with alcohol withdrawal. This is a phenomenon that causes each successive withdrawal to be more severe and increases the likelihood of a person developing delerium tremens and seizures in withdrawal.

It seems to me that the severity of withdrawal is affected by other factors such as sleep derivation, (possibly) nutritional status and precribed medications as well. Selegiline appears to make WD's much, much worse and of course we've all heard AquaDementia's report of SSRI use attenuating withdrawals.
