Health - Kava as an anxiolytic?

SWIM is currently having some mean anxiety and is curious about SWIY's use of kava-kava on a regular/semi-regular basis for treatment of anxiety and possibly depression. He has used it before and felt the effects (like a very mild benzo), but this was at a more relaxed period of his life. Does anyone find kava effective for excessive worrying and/or depression? I know that is commonly reported as an anxiolytic, but i am hoping for some anecdotal evidence. He was recently prescribed to celexa (and previously zoloft), but found that all hi symptoms intensified and he is fed-up with the way he is feeling. Could use of kava-kave be an adequate solution to his problems?
