International Amazonian Shamanism Conference

The Church, "Soga del Alma" - "Vine of the Soul" - organizes a Conference for those interested in Amazonian shamanism and ceremonies managed by authentic Amazonian curandero(a)s will also be made available.

People all over the world, who are interested in traditional healing practices are often isolated and have no means to reach traditional healers. Their main way of relating to other people interested in the same subjec is the Internet. They often dream of going down to South-America, without having an occasion or enough knowledge to reach authentic curanderos.

Today, their dream has come true; our conference invites all people interested in South-American healing practices, from the novice to the intellectual educated in those matters. There will be both curanderos and special guests from all over the world, most of which are reknown in the domain of shamanic healing. Although there will be Ayahuasca ceremonies for those interested, as one of the healing ways in the Amazon, it will not be the main focus of the Conference: Shamanism in general will.

The idea of this meeting originated in our will to meet all the people from the Internet, who help each other to understand healing processes and techniques used in the Amazon, although very far from the Jungle, sincerely trying to learn and transmit the wisdom of the forest and human tradition around it. Therefore, this meeting is also for all the people from this anonymous internet community.

How wonderful for all of these people (us) to meet and put a face on the nicknames and avatars we are used to see on computer screens. How wonderful to share our love for Pachamama's wisdom, where Man has not yet cut all her her beautiful green hair.

Last but not least, apart from the curanderos who will share with us a plant knowledge that is a priori very foreign to us brought up in the western culture, there will also be talks by western intellectuals who share a true interest in the shamanic wisdom and do their best to translate it in our western words.

This International Conference is open to all people in the world willing meet with people sincerely and seriously interested in the Knowledge from the Amazon forest.

The 3rd International Amazonian Shamanism Conference:
Healing Plants and Navigational Tools
Iquitos, Peru
July 7th-14th, 2007

Chinchilejo e.i.r.l. (Dragonfly in Quechua) is sponsoring the 3rd Amazonian Shamanism Conference in Iquitos, Peru. They are hosts to Soga Del Alma (Vine of the Soul) and invited guest Presenters and healers. The very experienced Presenters and Healers (shamans-curanderos) will be presenting lectures on various Amazonian healing techniques as well as alternative types of natural medicines. These curanderos (male and female) are those that typically use Ayahuasca or San Pedro in order to heal people, reguraly drink these medicinas and carry this knowledge with them in order to help other people make contact with the Vine and cactus and thereby get the knowledge they need to rebalance their beings, their lives and keep on living wisely, with open eyes on the World.

In it's core, this meeting will allow to make contact with Ayahuasca through curanderos who dedicate their lives to introduce people to it, in the setting they have always been working: the largest forest of the world. This meeting is therefore mainly a meeting with the teacher and healer Ayahuasca in her homeland. There will also be Curanderos who heal with other plants or by other means. Ayahuasca is not going to be the only aspect of this conference; Shamanism will.

Last but not least, apart from the curanderos who will share with us a plant knowledge that is a priori very foreign to us brought up in the western culture, there will also be talks by western intellectuals who share a true interest in the plant wisdom and do their best to translate it in our western words, thereby working to single out the Vine and its use from the western vision that puts it on the same level as drugs.

The following special Guests will be with us this summer: Pablo Amaringo, Peter Gorman, Alan Shoemaker, Dr. Richard Grossman, Jimmy Weiskopf and many more to be announced. Each speaker will have a specific topic they will discuss. Every traditional healer (curandero, shaman) will also speak independently as well as be a member of the panel discussions.

The Conference will begin with two days-evenings of talks followed by a free day-evening where the participants can tour Iquitos and its surroundings as well as choose to participate in Ceremony with the shaman of their choice. Following this, we are back to the Conference center for two more days-evenings of lecture-discussions and then another day-evening free to do with as you choose, then back to the Conference center again for two more days of Conference events. During the time period of the Conference, there will be three days-evenings free for you to do with as you wish, giving ample time for rest and relaxation the following mornings before the Conference events begin again.
