Opinions - Best Strain of Poppy Pods to Buy on the Internet?

SWIM was just wondering what suggestions SWI-you would have when ordering poppy pods over the internet. SWIM knows it's against the rules to ask for sources so he thought that maybe by asking for best strains that it would narrow the search down a bit.

Any suggestion would be very much appreciated

Much thanks to samuraigecko for the following thread, Papaver S. Botany and selective breeding,
which lists and rates several common varieties/species of Papaver Somniferum and would be an excellent guide and reference for matters such as SWIY's.

Although these threads refer mainly to cultivation, the same rules basically apply for choosing dried pods.
One other thing that needs to be considered with dried pods is 'freshness'. Ideally, pods should be from the current or latest season and not previous ones.

From what SWIM's heard/experienced, it doesn't matter so much about the strain. As long as they're papaver somniferum and not something like California poppy or oriental poppy, you should be good. It's good to shop around and use different vendors to see which you like best. Potency varies from crop to crop.

Yeah, my pet has also very much enjoyed hen n chicks, the only pods so far to actually knock him out!

But other factors must be taken into account, not just the strain. Like how well they was grown and all that stuff. Coz my pet's also had some fairly average hen n chicks in his time.

Swim's fat junkie cat completely agrees. Recently, she tells me that she got some kickass giganteums, a strain she's not usually mad about, and they were excellent. That cat is incorrigible!

Yeah, my pet has had similar experiences. He used to love dutch maxis from one certain vendor, but then this vendor got new dutch maxis in and they just weren't the same.

He's been on gigs ever since.

My little dogs preference is giganthemums. She knows that they are not everyones fave, but she finds the taste of them is a bit better than most others. Also if you have the right vendor she says there are some really potent gigs out there.
