Marsofold, would it be smart to purchase already grounded mimosa, just so i dont have to do that step myself? or are there quality issues when buying already ground up? or should i buy the whole bark pieces and grind them myself? thanks

The two issues with pre-ground bark are:
#1 when was it ground? You don't want bark that was ground up 6 months ago. Exposed to light it ages rapidly. Ask.
#2 is all of the powder really Mimosa rootbark? It comes down to trust on this one.
--------------
Grinding Mimosa Hostilis rootbark is a major pain in the butt. You have to cut it into inch-long pieces before feeding it to your blender or the blender may jam or burn up. SWIM uses a flat-board paper cutter to chop it into inch long pieces. Then fill the blender half full and shake it up and down while it runs. Grasp the lid and bottom and compress them together while shaking to mix the bark in the blender while it runs. Do not exceed a 1-minute run time or the blender may overheat. What an aggravation. I can see why pre-ground bark would be tempting. There is no scientific answer to this one, just go with your trust level...

It's not bad grinding small peices of bark, just wear a dust mask !!!.
And don't try to grind too much at once, just do small amounts.
I've done 500g in about 1/2 hr.

Yeah that is indeed a good advice. Small pieces, especially when you don't have a very powerfull mixer like swim. Swim used a kind of mask too, their is really alot of dust in the air when you just grinded the mimosa and release the cap from the blender.

I've got pictures my wife took of me with a black bandana for a dust mask, a fistful of Mimosa and a can of Naphtha in the other.

Lighting and music play a very important role in the trip in SWIMS opinion. Also leaving your eyes open or closed can significantly effect the trip. It just depends on what you want but SWIM suggests trying with and without music and with the lights on and off, its way different. Close and open your eyes during the trip or just try it differently. You will be prone to leave your eyes closed probably.
