Post Anti-insomnia tincture/tincture in a general way

My rats has difficulty for sleeping. Since he has 12 years old. During all this time doctor prescribed a lot of medics, various for sure, antihistaminic ( alimemazine, acepromazine, etc...), benzodiazepine ( clorazepate, diazepam, etc...), imidazopyridines ( zopiclone, zolpidem. ). Without results.

At the age of 14, he tried cannabis and realized that was the best medicine.
Indica varieties with low level of THC and high level of cannabidiol was the best stuff for my rats.

But he can't smoke anymore, for various reasons.

So he decided to try an alternative of pharms.

How make an alcoholic tincture of plants?

Anti-insomnia tincture:

Swim know the ratio 1ml of alcohol per gr of herbs.
He have in his possession some plants with sedative properties, valerian roots 100gr, passion flower 100gr, and humulus lupulus 10gr.
The menstruum is an alcohol 94%, 75cl in his possession.
Plants have to soak during 15 days at least.

Questions:

Did he has the good recipe to make a tincture?

Some advice for the plant did he choose? The combo seems to be effective, swim tried this in a tea, and that's work, for sure!

Maybe swiy add another plants?

Now, if this stuff make this work, maybe swim can make another tincture with the opposite effect, for the morning!

Energizing tincture:

With the same protocole but with this plant: citrus aurantium, kola nuts, acorus calamus.

Questions:

Did the alkaloïd/xanthinic are soluble in alcohol?

The choice of the herbs is good?

Some tips/advice?

I hope some swimmers/pets/members will be able to give some suggestion for rat's plan.

Take care.
