Heroin as a stimulant/upper?

Having read a lot of posts here, it seems to my towel that the experience he gets from heroin - and the reason he takes it - seems somewhat different from the majority.

He'd always imagined heroin to be the ultimate downer - the stereotypical image of heroin users sprawled on any available surface; eyes rolled back, lost in their own world.

Reading here, it seems that that is indeed the case for many heroin users who seek to nod from it.

But from my towel, it almost seems like a party drug. When on H he's lively, talkative, productive. He bounces to good music and even dances around. In this respect it reminds him in some ways of cocaine - the feeling of being totally awake, with it, indestructible, and the king of all he surveys.

He supposes a big factor here is that he smokes H only. I'm sure IV heroin tends to bring on such strong nods that the lively, chatty phase is bypassed completely and one goes straight to the near-comatose.

My towel isn't going to try IV to see what that is like. But he does plan to try and enjoy some good nods sometime - something he actually actively avoids currently, as he perceives the nod as leading to sleep and doesn't really want to 'waste' the drug by drifting in and out of unconsciousness. At the moment, pretty much the only time he gets a nod is when he actually does go to bed - then he enjoys the feeling of 'maleable dreams' as he describes it; that is, something akin to closed-eye visuals, but ones which he can control. Seeing his thoughts. (As an aside, that too was also very surprising to my towel - he wasn't expecting anything verging on halluciogenic, but in some ways H does feel a little like that at times.)

Anyway, are there other H users here who prefer the stimulant-like, upper effects of H to the more typical downer experience?
