Piportil (Pipotiazine)
Hello everyone, I'm new to this site and this is my first post. Last year I was in hospital and when I left they put me on compulsory depot injections of Piportil (50mg) every 4 weeks. Ever since I was on the drug I've been sleeping about 12-16 hours a day and have been feeling tired when I've been awake. I managed to persuade my psychiatrist to let me come off the drug and my last injection was 3 months ago but I'm still feeling the same. Has anyone else been through the same thing on Piportil or another antipsychotic and does it eventually wear off?

Re: Piportil (Pipotiazine)
From the BNF with regard to depot injections:
"...it is important to recognise that the plasma-drug concentration may not fall for some time after reducing the dose, therefore it could be a month or longer before side effects subside." As each injection lasts 4 weeks I would consider a visit to your GP or psych if you still feel the same after another 2-4 weeks. Also, please remember, they cannot MAKE you take anything you don't want to (unless you have been involuntarily sectioned under the mental health act). Hope you feel better soon
