Re: where can I learn mycology

TO THE LIBRARY!!!

some community colleges or community centers around areas where wild edibles are rampant often have courses for people who want to learn about what they are eating, they are very nice for a budding mycologist. If swiy is not in a said area then swim reccomends checking out the internet and also looking into a couple books.

Mycology is a very facinating and earthly science, if one is just looking to grow cubensis then they will not need too much of a fungal knowledge to do it well, but if one is looking to enrich their lives and learn a sience and circle of life that pre-dates our big pink collective then it is a boundless pool of fun stuff to learn about.

Re: where can I learn mycology

public libraries are tough. I've been through their psychoactive drug section, and it's all books that look like they're for children, and only stress the amount of damage drugs cause (which swim found to be insulting to his inteligence). DF's archives have a wealth of information on mushrooms as well. There's video, documents, etc. Even checking out the drug chemestry section could turn up results.

The OP said "where can I learn about mycology?", not "where can I learn about drugs?" (or even, "where can I learn about psychoactive fungi?").

OK, so s/he's probably interested in drugs given that this is drugs-forum.com, but there's far, far more to mycology than just knowing about how to pick or grow magic mushrooms. Most fungal species don't produce mushrooms anyway, they're just weird microscopic moulds and yeasts than grown in the soil or inside plants and stuff.

Mycological Society of Toronto

Books by Paul Stamets and david aurora aurora , among others, are an excellent place to start.
