Documents - Who will know if addict got help through methadone?

In the USA, I overheard a conversation at the grocery store and now I'm curious. Someone said they were treated at a methadone clinic for 2 weeks and then quit because the clinic wanted to contact their regular doctor. They were wondering who would know if they had been treated at a methadone clinic. It seems they were worried about their current doctor finding out and also about a new psychiatrist. They seemed reluctant to seek care for a legit medical condition for fear of being labeled a drug seeker.

Does anyone know who has access to the records kept by the clinic?

We don`t know the Situation in the US. but in Europe each Country have kind of a
Government Agency where every Consument of Opioids have to be registered.
Also the Insurance kept a Record!

Otherwise many Opionauts just Travel from one Clinic to the next for a never ending Booze!
