Can't roll a good Joint
Swim just got 12 zig zag "orange" booklets so he could smoke joints. He has finally figured out how to roll a little joint that looks ok but it doesn't smoke ok. The last ones he rolled ware very tight so he didn't have to fill it with extra weed from the top. It was also big on one end and small on the other side like a cone. The problems he has is a huge amount of smoke is lost at all times when its lit from the Big steam of smoke coming off, He can't ever get a good hit and if he does it gets real hot and is slow witch means the joint gets all spity, And it always starts to burn on only one side so and that ends up wasting weed cuz he has to rip off the extra piece that didn't get smoked. Swim has has one good joint some one rolled with their joint roller. Other times swim has tried other peoples hand rolled joints they ware strait and tight like a roller and didn't waste quite much swims.
so any tips on rolling? ] |

Re: Can't roll a good Joint
This is an excellent write-up of the method Labrat used when learning to
roll joints... it really helps you get the process down at first. Please notify me if the pictures don't work - been having trouble getting pictures to show up in posts on and off ![]() UncleBen's dollar-bill joint rolling method Original idea by: Uncleben Pictures submitted by: Hopefull I'm one of those people who can't roll a joint with my fingers, got the same problem? This method makes joint rolling a breeze, and after you've done it a few times, you'll get the gist of rolling with your fingers. First lets get out the supplies: A dollar bill (Any paper currency should do, as long as the texture's close). Papers (For beginners I recommend JtB 1.5 Cigarette Paper's, the length helps in learning and the glue used is better than most). Marijuana/Tobacco (The better the product the better the doobie). Step #1 Break up your Bud/Tobacco into fine little pieces; be sure to get out any seeds and stems. The amount used is up to you, 1.5's can hold quite a bit. Use small doses while learning and remember the product will roll and spread easier if grinded into a powder. Step #2 You want to make a fold in your dollar at about 1 1/2 to 2 inches. Fold your paper the same way at about 1/2 an inch (Make sure when you fold your paper the glue strip is at the top and facing you) and lay the paper in the dollar (as shown below). A good rule of thumb in this step is make sure the paper is aligned with the dollar for an even roll. Step #3 Place your Bud/Tobacco in the paper, you want to be sure to disperse your product evenly to ensure a decent straight roll--too much in one particular spot will create lumps and uneven burning. Remember, your joint is similar to a wick, you want it as even as possible all the way through. Step #4 Now you need to close the dollar with your mix inside. Don't squeeze the product; pinch the dollar right above your Bud/Tobacco mix and While pressing upwards the dollar you want to distribute a firm even press throughout the mix. Allow the paper to roll around your mix, at the same time allow your dollar to keep moving upward. Try not to allow your joint to get loose; at this point firm pressure is a must. Step #6 Now that you've gotten your joint rolled evenly all the way to the glue strip, your ready to lick your paper. Exactly the way you would a stamp, use your tongue to moisten the strip evenly all the way across the paper. This is not a slobbering contest; too much moisture in one spot across the joint will contribute to an uneven burn. After moistening the glue strip proceed to roll the joint until you run out of dollar. Step #7 Take the joint out of the dollar. If one part or another is still a little moist you may want to give it time to dry, the even burn is essential for a good joint. Step #8 Fire it up! |

Re: Can't roll a good Joint
To quote the old adage...
Practice makes perfect That being said, SWIM has been smoking (thus rolling) for 7 years, and his brother who has been smoking for about 10 months can out roll him. He also beats SWIM at guitar hero, if that has anything to do with it. SWIM would say the best idea is to just roll as much as you can, if you are with mates, once you are a bit better at rolling, always offer to roll, that why his brother rolls such perfect joints, because he always asks to roll whenever a J is being rolled.

Re: Can't roll a good Joint
when a j is burning uneven it usally means that the herb hasnt been cleaned well, be sure to cut up the product and remove all seeds and stems. when a doobie starts to " run " or burn unevenly, a little spittle from ur mouth to your finger to the quick burning part of the joint , as to stop it from burning unevenly. cheers

Re: Can't roll a good Joint
Excellent instructional! I still like they way the Dutch do it. They use a small cardboard filter. The filter is great it works as a crutch for those who can't normally roll. I gave up smoking but sill have a couple of packs of the filters from the Pink Floyd coffee shop.

Re: Can't roll a good Joint
rollin jays is a fav past time of my friends cat..
swiy can also tell how "clean" the bud is by the color of the ash. Swiy wants a nice white/grey ash. dark/black ash is a bad sign. all freehand by my friend. no bills used and a filter is a must, smoked 20times better...well atleast my friends say.

Re: Can't roll a good Joint
a joint will burn unevenly if (when tobacco is used) the weed and tobacco are unevenly distributed.... my normal method is to line the paper with a small amount of baccy, then add whatever weed you want to put in, followed by another layer of baccy on top. When rolled the baccy will surround the weed in the middle acting as an aid to the burning of the weed ensuring side burning doesn't occur.
and a tip for rolling without bothering to write too much: ... when learning don't put too much in... its always much harder to roll with lots in the paper. hope this helps.... and practice.... if your gunna smoke... then u really need to learn how to smoke

Re: Can't roll a good Joint
Things like the bill never helped SWIM. He could only get it right after many attempts. So SWIM agrees with those who say it's all about practice! =)
