Junk at Blink-182 concert?

swim is attending a blink 182 concert with his friend and his older brother tomorrow night. his brother is buying a ton of booze and swim doesn't drink anymore because of the awful epilogue that follows every night of drinking, and the concern he has for his health. swim broke up with his girl today and really doesn't want to touch painkillers (if only to avoid any kind of positive conditioning)...

but "i can't drink because i'm on another drug" is the only excuse that'll fly tomorrow swim loves opiates, but has never listened to pop/punk under the influence and doesn't know if there will be synergy. does american punk/pop sound good with oblivious mu receptors?

Re: Junk at Blink-182 concert?

Yeah of course sounds like a awesome show swim would love to see blink. Any music goes good with junk. How is doing painkillers any worse then doing smack swim doesnt see the logic in that. Swim is a smack head so he will always choose smack but swim would say go with the pills. Has swiy done heroin before?

I for one am sure that Blink 182 would sound much better if you were off your face.

Not to be an ass , but im with the two lads on this. The only redeeming feature about Blink 182 is Travis Barker the drummer, swim would likely need to be on some major opiates to hack such a gig, even then who knows if any drug would be enough. Sorry, off topic rant.

Re: Junk at Blink-182 concert?

personally swim doesn't think heroin is the best drug for enjoying a concert, it's just not condusive to the atmosphere of a live show and lots of energy.

the best, most memorable shows she's seen have been when she's taken LSD or shrooms or E or even speed or coke.

Swim would think swiy would rather be up and feeling the energy and excitement of a large crowd.

heroin is a drug best enjoyed at home where one can nod out and chill.

Agreed! Swim would say go with some X and be in the moment instead of wanting to sit down and nod out.

Re: Junk at Blink-182 concert?

haha yeah, why see everything through a detached fog and drooping eyelids. it really wont be fun that way, especially if other people are drunk it will just end up being annoying for swiy.

onetime swim went to see the vandals and was on acid and it was the most amazing thing, the band members seemed so extra animated, kind of like cartoon versions of themselves and watching all the other people around her was great too.

Not to knock music tastes but personally that would be the only way I could enjoy a Blink-182 concert. Though I can think of many substances that would make it even more enjoyable.

Re: Junk at Blink-182 concert?

Taking X at a concert can be a waste of the admission fee though. It's awesome at the time but SWIY can't remember it

Re: Junk at Blink-182 concert?

Stay home and do something constructive instead of paying these douche bags for a shitty/ possibly mediocre "concert". If this is your thing , go for it but Blink 182?

Good Thoughts

Re: Junk at Blink-182 concert?

I wish people would stop knocking this poor guy's music tastes! Fair enough if it's not your thing, but no need to be insulting about it.

shanesmith7, am I understanding you correctly in saying that you don't want to drink, but that you don't think your friends will accept your lack of alcohol consumption unless you tell them you're on another drug?

If so, my advice would be to tell them to get a grip! Fair enough if you want to take opiates at the gig, but as far as your friends go you don't need an excuse not to drink. I do understand your problem - I know what so many people are like when you tell them you're not drinking. But it's pathetic. I hate it that drinking when you're out is the norm, and that if you're not drinking then people think you're boring. It's so completely wrong. We shouldn't have to drink to enjoy ourselves. And it's those people who DO need to drink to have a good time that are the boring ones.

So if you don't want to drink because you don't like getting hungover or whatever, why not just tell them that? And if they pester you about it and try and get you to drink, tell them you'll have a better time without it and don't intend to get drunk and miserable just to keep them happy.

Good assessment of drinking culture and how blind some people are to peer pressure.

Re: Junk at Blink-182 concert?

I agree. It bugs me when people ask for a reason why you're not drinking. The right to choose what goes in your body should work both ways.
