VIDEO SHOWS MAN CONFESSING IN OREGON TO TRIPLE KILLING
A housepainter charged with murdering three people in Eastern Oregon was captured on video by a Seattle television station confessing to the crimes and blaming them on methamphetamine. KING-TV has posted video on its Web site showing deputies escorting Gregory Alvin Cook of La Grande into the Thurston County Jail in Olympia, Wash., on Monday following his arrest. Asked by a reporter if he did it, Cook said, "I did, and I apologize highly to all the families and everybody." And Cook added, in his words, "Methamphetamines were largely responsible. It changes who you are as an individual when you're under the influence of that stuff for days and weeks at a time." Cook has been charged in the slayings of two men and a woman he knew near Elgin, Ore.
