Question Racetams vs. Adderall

My pet zebra just recently purchased some Aniracetam powder online for the purpose of helping with cognition/studying etc. Said zebra is also prescribed 30 mg Adderall/day (15 IR x 2).

However, as with most Adderall users my zebra knows, my zebra enjoys taking Adderall for fun at various different times, and is even known to give some away to his zebra friends who are in need. My zebra is probably not prescribed enough to begin with. The Aniracetam is theoretically going to help supplement my zebra for those times when he runs out of his Adderall too early, or feels the use of Adderall may not be necessary.

My zebra was curious as to how Aniracetam or the other racetams compare with Adderall? Obviously he is not expecting the exact same effects, or for them to be quite as good, but are they at least comparable? Would other zebras recommend different racetams next time instead of Aniracetam? My zebra also purchased some lecithin, as he read that racetams sans choline = headaches. All info greatly appreciated, for my zebra.

Re: Racetams vs. Adderall

SWIM thinks that one of the "racetams" would be helpful when your zebra runs out of Adderall or doesn't feel it is necessary. Which of the racetams would be best for your zebra? Depends on what said zebra is looking for. Piracetam is the "original" and is pretty popular. There are also several others that have been introduced since piracetam, many of which are said to be several times more potent. These include aniracetam, oxiracetam, pramiracetam, nefiracetam and others. Opinions on which is the best differ from person to person. Personally, SWIM would choose oxiracetam because it is said to be twice as potent as piracetam and is water soluble. The general opinion is that oxiracetam is one of the better (if not the best) option in the racetam family. There is also a bit of evidence in support of oxiracetam's effectiveness.

Quote:
The results of the trial, structured as single blind, clearly showed that nootropics positively effect both clinical and neurophysiological performances and that oxiracetam produces a more pronounced effect when compared to piracetam.
Of course your zebra shouldn't expect to get the same effect as Adderall. The racetams have been shown to have positive effects on cognitive performance and memory. They will not likely provide any euphoria or a dramatic rise in motivation. But if the zebra has no problem with motivation or starting a task without Adderall, then oxiracetam should be helpful for overall cognition. There is a thread here with some good information on piracetam, oxiracetam and nootropics in general. Maybe your zebra could take a look for some more information and opinions on the racetams and their effects.

Also, good call on the lecithin. There is some information on this in the link above as well if your zebra is interested.

Re: Racetams vs. Adderall

My zebra thanks you. Usually my zebra has a natural distrust of information coming from Ohio, as my zebra is from Michigan and therefore hates most or all things Ohio spare LeBron James, but he greatly appreciates the insight.

Re: Racetams vs. Adderall

Ah, a zebra from Michigan huh? SWIM understands your zebra's reluctance in that case . LBJ is about all we got here in Ohio, (well now Shaq too, SWIM is a basketball fan and hopeful!). But rest assured, SWIM doesn't screw around with his responses here on DF and tries to be as helpful as he can no matter where the information is going! Please wish your zebra good luck from SWIM regarding his racetam decision.

Re: Racetams vs. Adderall

If you're zebra is finding that the dose of adderall he takes is not enough, the "racetam" should definitely increase the effects of the amphetamines. SWIM currently takes around 1-2g of Piracetam daily and loves it's effects.
