I'd say the main one that people buy is dxm. You could buy products
conatining codeine and then perform an extraction to remove the
aspirin/acetaminophen. Some people like to trip off of Dimenhydrinate
(dramamine), but I've never personally tried it. Caffeine. Nitrous.

Codeine is a scheduled drug in the USA. Low-dose tablets - 8mg - mixed with aspirin and caffeine are available OTC in Canada. Regards LSA - Lysergic Acid Amide - this can be extracted from natural and available sources such as morning glory seeds and Hawaiian baby woodrose. As pure LSA, it is not available OTC.

the otc's i have done are dxm and diphenhydramine (benadryl). if you
are not an experienced user do not start at a high dose of dxm, start
somehwere around 240-300 mg and do not use products like coricidin
cough and cold which contain harmful active ingredients. dxm is a
dissociative. at low doses its kind of a floaty drunk feeling, at high
doses it can cause hallucinations and ego loss that is very frightening
to some people. i would not reccomend diphenhydramine to anybody trying
to do a recreational substance. the high is a short period of
heavy/drunken feeling followed by a confusing, disoriented, delerium.
the hallucinations are so real that you cant tell the difference
between them and reality until you look at it in retrospect. i would
not recommend it to an unexperienced user.

dxm can definatly be a good one, though even if u naturally have a high tolerance for most drugs or have just obtained one dont try too large a dose on your first time, especially if your not experienced with any other dissasociatives. my first dissasociative was dxm and i had done shrooms and stuff many times but dxm is a different kind of fucked up that u pretty much just have to experience(just like many other drugs). Just be careful and only take the stuff if the ONLY active ingredient is Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide, preferrably 15 mgs/5ml but as long as its the only active ingredient it doesnt really matteer, ull just have to drink more for the same dosage. Dextromethorphan Polisterix can also be used but it can be quite different than hydrobromide and you should research on the differences and understand them before using, some like it more some like it less. Common advice often given about dxm polisterix is dont use it if your new at it but other say the trip is less intense and so on, just do your research and remember those are the only 2 ingredients that are usable.

I'll just stick to 25mg diphenhydramine as occasional sleep aid... works good for that. Not a drug I'm get high on, you're essentially poisoning yourself to get the effects. Might as well buy some Afrin nasal spray and shoot it up your ass, if you're crazy enough to do stuff like that recreationally.

(btw, the nasal spray idea above really might work, contains a stimulant called oxymetazoline... not that I'd try it. )Edited by: Nicaine

The 'addiction' they refer to in that article is really a chronic rebound effect from nasal vasoconstriction, not true addiction to the drug oxymetazoline.Edited by: Nicaine

that's just not true. there isn't a single otc medication that is stronger or can even remotely compare to something like heroin, speed, coke/crack, or almost any other street drug imaginable. there are only a few otc meds that can get you high. dxm and propylhexadrine are probably the only half-way abusable ones at that.

Sorry to bring an old thread back to life, but I noticed there was a question left unanswered.

Propylhexedrine is an ingredient in a OTC nasal spray used to relieve nasal congestion. However, when taken orally or injected, its effects are that of a stimulant. It is sometimes compared to amphetamines. When taken orally, one usually simply swallows the cotton rod from the inhaler. When injected, an extraction must be performed.
