  3. Step 2
Steep the tea at room temperature for 1 hour.
  4. Step 3

  7. You might gently, at low temperatue, boil down the tea, leaving a resiude at the bottom of the pot, which is the extract. Otherwise, add some fresh green tea leaves, and let the extract evaporate "into" them (basically evaporate the water while the leafs are soaked with the extract.

Further Information:
  • Green tea is also used as an ingredient in some beauty products, due to its purported anti-aging properties. To make your own green tea moisture cream, add a small amount of green tea extract to plain skin lotion.
  • If you are taking the prescription drug Velcade, do not consume any green tea product, as a 2009 University of Southern California study concluded that green tea renders the drug useless.
  • Be aware of both the caffeine content and any reactions that could occur.
  • Be aware of possible high flouride content that can lead to bone problems as well as other health issues (cf http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dental_fluorosis)
  • For long-term, high-dose use it is better to use commercial de-caffeinated, EGCG isolated extracts.
Be aware that this is just a method that should only be used occasionally, not for the daily capsule. It is possible that it can be used, but i was not able to gather enough information about this topic, neither to obtain better extraction manuals. Feel free to correct or add stuff, i'd be happy to see a good green tea extract manual, especially for de-caff or capsules, as well as more information about negative side effects.
