Brain split
Swim smoked some salvia divinorum 10x last night. It was quite an experience, though it is hard to recall this morning. Swim had more than two hits; however there are only two expeditions that have any sort of clarity in his memory.
In the first, it felt like he was traveling backwards, through the back of his head and out of this world. The journey had the shape of a white right-angled triangle with lots of smaller red triangles traveling up it – like an escalator or a snake. It was an opening or portal out of here into a larger world that encompassed our own. He sensed no malevolence in this larger world at the time, but it has since felt hellish to him on account of the redness of his experience and the sensation of descending. As I said however,he didn’t feel this at the time; in fact I think he was quite jubilant and exhilarated. He began to sense a female presence back in the normal world (though he was really alone). I believe he was thinking of this female presence as L. He was excited to return and tell her what he’d seen and actually felt himself struggling back into his head as an almost physical sensation on his soul. This is when the most striking event occurred; for a brief time it was like one half of his brain – the right I think (whichever is associated with vision in the left eye) – had returned to reality while the other half was still down in the hole. Is this a common experience?
When he was eventually back in his head it appeared that he was trying to express something, awe I suppose. He said it felt like an attempt to push something solid out of his face. But really it was just that he’d been holding his breath and was trying to exhale. When he eventually managed to push his breath out he made a pathetic little noise of wonder and dribbled saliva bubbles down his chin.
He was extremely affected by this experience and was keen to go further. So he decided to smoke more. There were a few more expeditions that either had little strength or were of such intensity that they blew his mind because he can’t remember them. For his last attempt however, I believe he prepared two bowls and smoked them after each other (I should note that my memory might be hazy because I’d had a couple of drinks before all this).
On this expedition, he felt like a giant or monument. he was aware of his body but felt like he was flying around ‘above’ it. He was also aware of the bong in his hands and thought of it as his mode of transport – like a rocket ship. He had a strong sense of a playful, familiar presence and was assured from somewhere that he was in the company of his ancestral line on his mother’s side. They were pleased with his presence amongst them and they ‘played’ around above the monument of his body. He remembers thinking of a kite.
When he returned he was quite convinced there is an afterlife of some kind. That conviction has lost its strength this morning but it all seemed so real at the time.
