Somewhat of a bad trip.
I'll give you guys a a little back story, SWIM has been using marijuana for a few years know. A big fan of it he never felt any adverse effects. This was until a few weeks ago. Swim and friends were driving around smoking listening to Pink Floyd (how cliched i know), as we drove down a long dark country road, SWIM (already very baked) took a hit right before the part in one of these days were it picks up. This is were "lost the game" afterwords i was feeling kinda strange, the music and scenery were becoming kinda unpleasant. The part that did SWIM in and eventually sank him into somewhat of a depression was the song "Wish you were hear". The deep lyrics and deep soul full music made me think of death and life, how short life is, the afterlife.etc, to the point were I nearly started crying. Needless to say this dampened the rest of the night somewhat (not as much as you'd think though) but for the next week or two these thoughts plagued my mind to the point were I was losing sleep over it. Eventually SWIM started feeling better, took a break from smoking and is now feeling good. SWim does not know if this is a Marijuana thing or just boredom and depression from summertime manifesting into a bad trip and hitting like a ton of bricks.
I'd like to hear your opinion on this folks. |

Re: Somewhat of a bad trip.
Sounds like anything from the normal blues hitting you or a bit of depression.
Bear in mind, losing sleep over life and death now and again does not mean your going to be hitting the depth of doomsville. Weed can hit some people like that - if it happens again or you feel uncomfortable with anyone in the company or the surroundings then stay sober. If weed IS the trigger, its easy to identify it early on. Good luck. |

Re: Somewhat of a bad trip.
Unfortunately, weed along with many other drugs SWIM has taken can easily trigger a negative thinking pattern. If something scares SWIY, or worries SWIY etc.. smoking may not always help as it can sometimes enhance those feelings and give SWIY a bad jolt for a while.
SWIM has had the same sort of feelings, where something goes through their mind stoned and then for days after they can't get it out of their head. Nothing to worry about though, SWIM takes the good with the bad and there have been times where SWIM will think of something really pleasing or cheerful when stoned and then for days after.. feels up-lifted by it. |

Re: Somewhat of a bad trip.
tbh the same thing happened to swim init and you done the right thing and stopped the cannabis - swim could not stop the cannabis and the doctor said he was depressed and gave swim anti depressants etc.... which helped alot.
However who is to know if swim stopped the cannabis first he wouldnt be on the meds init? |

Re: Somewhat of a bad trip.
My smoking hedgehog has had quite a few bad trips while stoned, some involving all kinds of crazy religious life/death thoughts where he imagined he ruined his whole life by taking drugs and he was actually dead and his life was his hell and finding out that he destroyed his own life was the climax of the hell experience, yet at the same time my hedgehog knew he was just stoned and that once he sobered up he'd be fine, so he'd run to his bed and close his eyes and try to sleep, try to sober up, and eventually he would.
On the flip-side he's told me many stories where he had a wonderful time, laughed his ass off, enjoyed the beauty of the world, and stuffed his face with tasty delicious treats. It's all about ones attitude and state of well-being. If one is not happy with his life, he is more liable to experience an adverse effect from psychoactive drugs. Well, that and the setting/company of course. Best wishes with avoiding future mind-fucks. They really suck and almost made my hedgehog avoid hallucinogens completely. |
