lsa more potent then lsd?
i read an artical by Richard Shultes were he was traveling thru mexico and the amazon looking for hallucinogens. he ends up finding morning glorys and has the local peoples make lsa for him...
this is were my question is... he said that when they extracted it and purifyed it that when he took a twig and dipped it in the lsa and held it to the light it was like syrup and had a blue tint to it! he also stated that he had done lsd 7 times before that and the lsa was 10x better then any acid he ever had!!! so basicly what i want to know is how the local peoples of mexico were able to make lsa so pure with not that many resources cause the live in the middle of no-where and this was in the early 1930 to the 1960's that he did most of his exploreing of the amazon and came across lsa... any ideas how they were able to make LSA more potent then LSD? tinytim2k9 added 0 Minutes and 53 Seconds later... oh and it was clear but when held to the sun it turned blueish... Re: lsa more potent then lsd?
Extracting LSA isn't rocket science, any monkey can do it and obtain a pretty pure stuff, unlike LSD which is rarely pure. But if you managed to get pure LSD and compare its effects with pure LSA, at the same amount, LSD will turn out to be much stronger.

Re: lsa more potent then lsd?
Yeah pure LSD is around 50 to 100 times stronger than LSA.
1 Morning glory seed has about 0.01mg LSA. 1 Hawaiian baby woodrose seed has about 0.25mg LSA. Don't see extracting it could do any thing except give you the ability to have a lot of it. Oops i got interrupted bye UPS. Hare goes 3 of the second kind |

Yeah well that's a nice concept. Logical too, about the surroundings and whatnot.
But really the question of the topic still stands; what method did those natives of mexico use to extract the LSA. I'm pretty interested actually, see if they even use chemicals like ether and ethanol. |

Re: lsa more potent then lsd?
As with all psychedelics (and other drugs as well), 'set-and-setting' will largely determine the subjective effects of the compound. If an individual traveled quite extensively, and had a comparatively unique experience involving LSA - comparing such an experience to ingesting LSD in a comfortable and familiar setting is sort of like comparing apples and oranges. In my chimp's experience, the drug doesn't always determine the outcome of psychedelic excursions; rather, environment and mind-set largely guide and define such experiences.
LSD is more potent at relevant receptors than LSA, so I'm compelled to agree with what Potter said: it's not always about potency (though I'm not sure what's meant by a spirit of a drug). The nature of each experience, regardless of the drug ingested, will determine the subjective 'strength' or severity of such events. |
