Not long ago, SWIM went to the doctor with a case of pink-eye. After taking the necessary eyedrops as a precaution, SWIM remarked that his throat was still sore even though his eyes had long since cleared up. "Have you ever thought about quitting smoking?" The doctor asked. SWIM loves smoking and figured he'd smoke until the day he died of lung cancer... or at least until he found the love of a nice gorgeous woman who could change his mind. Nevertheless, with his typical reckless abandon, SWIM thought "what the hell? Today is as good a day as any". So SWIM left the doctor's office with a prescription for Chantix. SWIM loves drugs and enjoys reading about them, so he set out to find out everything he could about Chantix. While browsing through pages of anecdotal reports, SWIM seemed to find a common caveat everywhere he looked: "Not a good idea to use if you're bipolar". "But I'm bipolar!" thought SWIM. Fortunately the doctors and the company that made the drug didn't seem to be too worried about it. SWIM even found stories of people who loved the drug and said that they'd not experienced a full-blown manic episode before trying it. SWIM began to get excited about the prospect of taking a drug that could potentially cause a prolonged manic episode (who doesn't like mania?!), plus it was said to cause vivid dreams. All that and it would help SWIM quit smoking? It seemed like a win-win. SWIM couldn't have been more wrong. Perhaps it wasn't the Chantix... SWIM has been known to react to things irrationally in the past, but somehow SWIM ended up in jail for the first time in his life - twice that month. For assaulting his friends, no less! SWIM didn't seem to notice that voice in his head that usually told him "umm, maybe this isn't the best idea". No, SWIM was invincible. No decision seemed like it could possibly have any negative consequences. SWIM met a heroin dealer in jail and decided that, not only would it be fun to do massive amounts of heroin, he could make a lot of money by selling it too! After all, SWIM lived on a college campus where all the heroin junkies hung out. SWIM ended up making $100, spending thousands, and being robbed by his dealer. He also lost some friends that didn't approve of heroin use. Oh, also SWIM got kicked out of a bar for passing out at a table. Afterwards he drank some beer and used the bottle to bust out both sides of his sliding glass door. "Why not?" He thought. There were obviously no immediate consequences. And SWIM was invincible, remember? He knew he'd find a way to deal with it later. All he found later was that he was broke, running low on friends, failing classes, and that somehow he had caused all that. Was it the Chantix? You decide. As for SWIM, he will never take Chantix again. SWIM has a friend who is not bipolar and the medicine worked wonders for him...except for the part where he almost had a complete breakdown due to the nightmares it was giving him. Take Chantix at your own risk, especially if you are bipolar. SWIM vaporizes now and couldn't be happier
