Just been working something out that has made SWIM quite surprised...
There's estimated to be between 250,000 and 300,000 heroin addicts in the UK. There's probably more than this, of course, but those are the "official" figures. The population of the UK is about 60,000,000, give or take. So that's roughly 1 heroin addict out of every 220 people. Now bear in mind that 20% of the UK population are children, so they can (usually) be discounted, the adult population is then 48,000,000. So that's an average of 1 heroin addict in every 176 adults, nationwide. Doesn't this seem like a huge amount to other SWIYs? H |
