Overdose on amphetamine sulfate, friend in hospital
Hello, fellows.
This story really bothers him; he can't sleep, he feels terrible and ashamed - ashamed because of his own stupidity. Let me tell you a few things about SWIM: He took quite a considerable amount of different drugs in his short life, such as LSD, Heroin, Morphine, Salvia, Cocaine and - Amphetamine. He never, never - let me repeat that: NEVER had any problems with it, neither concerning addiction nor concerning irresponsible consumption. He's pointing this out, because he always thought that shit like that couldn't happen to a guy like him, and he bets there are lots of people out there who think the same. So SWIM had dreamt that he actually succeeded in synthesizing amphetamine. He was extremely happy about it, because it was a long, hard way that he walked until this day. Unfortunately, SWIM didn't have a scale handy, because his brother borrowed it to weigh letters for a week. Well, a friend (we shall call him Lampe) visited him and was told the story, he wanted to try it out immediately. SWIM wasnt sure, he didnt check the BP of the product yet, and it wasn't even completely dry yet, but he was in an euphoric state and easily convinced that this won't be a problem. He measured the dosage by eye and wanted to get that amount dry, but that's not easily done in 5 min. Lampe urged a bit more, and then they decided to bomb the amphetamine (put it into a cigarette paper and eat it). Since he knew that the bioavailability of peroral consumption is far lower, he decided to cut the amount a bit and eat the whole thing alone, without sharing. But Lampe said that he had to go and wanted to have it - so SWIM agreed and gave him the amphetamine. He was so blind, he wanted to know whether the stuff hits the spot or not - driven by the failures in the past. He didnt see that the amount measured was WAY too much. The friend left, and called after 20 minutes. He said that he had quite a headache, felt his heart beating in his chest. SWIM was quite surprised that the effect commenced so quickly. Then, after half an hour of chatting, his friend hang up and said he would call again. He didn't. Instead, his sister called two hours later, telling SWIM that her brother was in hospital. SWIM was shocked. The thing is: His friends weighs 40 pounds more than him. If SWIM had taken the amphetamine and not his friend, he would quite surely be dead by now - because unlike Lampe, he wouldnt have been found by a sister. Lampe is in intensive care right now, but SWIM knows that he will make it - he's a tough guy, he survived other things as well, but nonetheless, SWIM feels terrible, but maybe he can sleep now. He wanted to share this story to all of you who think, like he did, that "shit like that never happens to me". When taking drugs, take them responsibly. NEVER make an exception like the one SWIM made, NEVER. Thanks for reading this, although still feeling terribly enough, he at least got the worst things off his chest. |

Re: Overdose on amphetamine sulfate, friend in hospital
First, SWIM is glad that SWIY's friend is going to be ok.
SWIM also wholeheartedly agrees with what SWIY said about not making exceptions when it comes to the responsible use of drugs. That is the problem with drugs is that it only takes one mistake to turn what was meant to be a great experience into a life-threatening experience. One case of hastily measuring a dose. One case of not researching before using. Once case of underestimating a drug. SWIM had a similar experience years ago, and it changed SWIM's "it won't happen to me" attitude overnight. The whole thing is an experience SWIM will never forget. It plays in SWIM's mind every time he is thinking about doing stupid. SWIM regrets that this is what it took to change his attitude towards a more responsible one, but it is a lesson he will never forget. Thanks for posting SWIY's experience. SWIM means that. Every time a SWIMmer tells their story, it increases the chances that someone who has the "it won't happen to me" attitude will read it and learn from it. The importance of responsible use of drugs, research and overall harm reduction are very important messages and should never be ignored. Thanks again for sharing SWIY's experience. DecoyPencil |

Re: Overdose on amphetamine sulfate, friend in hospital
Hope for swiY's sake that he doesn't get into trouble over that, that's some serious time if so...
Gotta be careful man...honestly if swiY's friend isn't responsible enough to accurately measure out his dosage, does swiY really think he's responsible enough for swiY to trust with the knowledge that swiY makes speed? Probably not. Tell noone, and if swiY's gonna tell someone it better damn well be someone swiY can trust with swiY's life! No joke son. His sister already apparently knows, who's to say he wouldn't tell the doctor whom he got it from? If swiY gets away with it, then hopefully he will have learned a seriously valuable lesson. |

Re: Overdose on amphetamine sulfate, friend in hospital
Now would be a very good time to clean swiY's glassware really well and get rid of notable precursors. Fuck em - they're chemicals swiY can always get more and it sure as hell beats having evidence of a speed lab.
There is a solution which is said to clean out glassware of basically anything and everything - it's called Fenton's reagent and is a mixture of H2O2 and an iron (II) salt which acts to oxidize any organic residues which may have remained behind in the labware (leaving behind CO2 and H2O). Iron(II) chloride can be made by reacting iron metal with hydrochloric acid and collecting the green crystals. Also, swiY will probably need like 30% H2O2 to do this, swiM doubts 3% will be sufficient. The reaction is rather violent and is also reportedly spontaneous wherein it may sit there for an hour and do nothing, then suddenly shoot up out of the glassware when swiY's not even expecting it Best to do that kind of thing outside where it won't make a mess...(Of course if swiY's 'glassware' is less than glassware perhaps tossing it's not a bad idea too.) Now would also be a good time to consider finding a lawyer just in case... Edit: http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=88202 this link talks about cleaning 'dirty' glassware. Also: SWIM appreciates the tip with Fenton's reagent, never heard of that before. That's gonna help SWIM in the future. Also, he's glad that there's people here that are able to talk completely technical about the topic, that kinda helps a lot. He thinks he's gonna have a shot of whisky now. |
