OD? Please advise ASAP

someone I might know never had experiences with poppy tea before - high opiate tolerance taking dilaudid, oxycod oxymorph hyrdocod etc quite frequently

earlier today someone I might know got his first shipment of large pods. swim ground 6 up VERY FINE and split the tea with a friend, about 1.75 cups of water per 3 pods.. filtered through coffee filters..... good experience, faded after 3 hours.

later swim was with girlfriend and different friend, ground up 15 pods and 5 cups of water but due to size of pot and filter swim did not filter through any coffee filters. swim ground up coarse and passed through metal strainer.

swim took 2 cups or 6 pods at midnight, swims girl took 1 cup, swims friend took 2 cups but has high opiate tolerance and ex heroin user

swims girlfriend got shaky at 2am and threw up, visually shaky, hands shaking mildly, took care of her til 5am

at 5:15 she felt significantly better but swim did not, shaking, cannot sleep, cannot stand, get out of bed, do anything physical without wanting to throw up etc swim told me it is about 8:15 now and the physical symptoms may be getting worse.. swim is not nodding like you may on oxy etc but the physical symptoms he said are horrendous.. please advise asap

Re: OD? Please advise ASAP

swim would really like someoen familiar with the effects to advise and does not want to call the ambulance without an educated guess of what is going on - he cannot sleep period so he is not at risk of falling asleep and not waking up, swim thinks this may be some allergic reaction or something to one of the alkaloids but he is still feeling very very very shitty.

peramoure added 13 Minutes and 22 Seconds later...

bumpbump is anyone familiar with this type of reaction, swim says it almost feels like coming down from a heavy upper, very odd he says

But swiny have to know it by himself, sometimes a Men have to show something like a Backbone.
Be responsible for things you are doing,

Re: OD? Please advise ASAP

SWIY should def get to the hospital. SWIM has quite a bit of experience with opiates and one thing SWIY doesn't want to risk is allergic reactions. They can cause SWIY to stop breathing, face swelling etc.. It's better to look like a dumbass at the hospital than a dumbass in a coffin... ya feel me?

All these people are correct. As a paramedic in training, SWIM recommends going to the hospital. Now.

Re: OD? Please advise ASAP

Not toally off topic but rather a branch...

Assuming someone did OD on opium or other related substance, how would one explain that at the hospital? To SWIMs knowledge they tend to do blood tests for damn near anything when you go in to see whats wrong. Could someone walk in, say they ODed on opium and walk out without law enforcement involvement? Just wondering for futures sake.

where swim is, they dont discriminate against people who have taken drugs, and they dont alert the police. however, if she had to make up an excuse, she would say that she accepted a herbal drink from someone at the train station, and that she feels funny, and thinks it may have been spiked.

One could say that they took one too many Perc's. SWIM has never heard of an arrest based on blood tests for drugs. Be sides, SWIYou could say he ate two or three poppy seed bagel and had a reaction. No way to disprove that.

Not sure, but blood tests from a hospital aren't a drug test. they count all the shit like blood count, white n red cells, healthyness and possible infections etc. Atleast they don't test drugs for a standard check up blood test

SIYCra$h is right..Monkey was just at the hospital after attempting to OD purposefully (stupid.....stupid....) and was blood tested, but it was a cell count/test for common infections etc. Of course, perhaps they didnt take a drug test as they believed what he told them, that it was an OD on Rx oxycodone, which is half true, heroin and morphine were also involved.

Re: OD? Please advise ASAP

As far as what they test for is concerned, around somewhere that isnt here (maybe just because of the high drug use rate or whatever) they may or may not test for drugs to assist in finding out the cause. SWIM would think this is ESPECIALLY likely if SWIyou said you werent sure what it was, because it would be irresponsible of the hospital to treat someone without knowing what happened to them.

All in all though, very good tips. SWIM should remember these, just in case... haha

Alive and in trouble is preferable to dead and out of trouble.
Most hospitals will still treat the symptoms that the patient presents with. Unconscious patients can't give a current history but they're still treated according to their symptoms on admittance to the ER.

Re: OD? Please advise ASAP

It's so important if anyone thinks another person has ODd to get help, call an ambulance, police...whoever. Never attempt to diagnose how bad it is, while you're diagnosing, the person could be fuckin' dying. Never...ever stick any substance in their veins, how do you know how the drug they've taken will interact with what you're giving them. Don't give em anything until an expert has said it's ok. If they're unconscious lay them in the recovery position (on their side, making sure there's nothing in their mouth that could block their airway) and wait for a paramedic/doctor.
Be safe.
Sparkles.

Just wanna mention...as an afterthought really. It's also illegal in some parts of the world for anyone (but a doctor) to inject anything into a persons veins/body. You could be prosecuted by the police, the person you're trying to help could even sue you for assault.
