Has anyone ever weaned off heroin with little to no withdrawal?

SWIM randomly tries to quit but goin cold turkey is rough. He is thinking of trying to wean off. In other words he will use less and less heroin until none at all. Anyone have any advice to give? Like how many hours to to slowly add inbetween hits or how much H to take off for each injection?

It's ok if SWIY fell off the wagon later on. SWIM just wants to know of any experiences of getting off by slowly weaning and not experiencing much withdrawal. Thanks in advance!

That would be difficult without a standardized product with which to accurately measure a taper...

AW: Has anyone ever weaned off heroin with little to no withdrawal?

Theoretical it`s working well with something like Heroin,
but only for People with a high Self-Control and a love for Craving.

This "Self-Control" my Cat deny everyone who is addicted!

Addiction works by herself and the personal influence is very low.
One of the best Things swiny can do is to take the helpful Hand
of People who are Clean and have knowledge whats happen.

Re: Has anyone ever weaned off heroin with little to no withdrawal?

use just enough to feel normal - NOT HIGH

wait as long as possible obviously until some withdrawal appears - the longer you push the better - then repeat very little amount just to feel normal - if swiy takes too little the body will let swiy know - swim has done this before on oxycodone in amsterdam - it takes the most will power but if the stash is big enough and the intentions are good -it is the most painless way to go

Thank you very much. SWIM knows it takes a shitload of will power but withdrawals are just terrible! Everytime SWIM tries going through it he ends up freaking out on the second day and gets some. Just so painful!

BTW, SWIWill - Did he shoot the oxycodone or was it the pills?

Re: Has anyone ever weaned off heroin with little to no withdrawal?

By the time anyone realises they have a habit self control has gone, in swims opinion. That's why it's called addiction. If self medicating with heroin was a successful means of quitting lots more people would be clean.
Swim is not saying it can't work, but it's just too much of a temptation to use more than needed, and justify it.
But good luck if swiy can do it. The fact that swiy has made the decision to quit is great. Keep thinking this way and swiy will get there.

Having a plan that has been worked out beforehand will give swiy the best chance at getting through W/D and staying clean.
Be it NA/AA, a therapist, or just friends and relatives, having support is essential.
Short term goals (how swiy intends to fill the day) and long term goals (what swiy want to do with the rest of their life) are equally important. Sticking to a routine, a new one, not the old using routine, then becomes a habit. Celebrating being clean for 24 hrs, not just seeing it as another day. This all helped.
Working out what (if any) issues need to be dealt with and setting up help to cope with them, is also good.
Swim used for many years and only learned this stuff as a result of many relapses.
Although swim is not advocating relapse, it's her opinion that they helped her identify the previous mistakes she'd made and enabled her to make sure she didn't make them, or managed to get past them, the very last time she cleaned up.
All the best.

Re: Has anyone ever weaned off heroin with little to no withdrawal?

My hat's SO is a junkie. He uses awhile and then backs off.
My hat makes sure that whenever her SO buys some H, that he also buys some methadone or polamidone.
My hat call these *tickets back*.

My hat can't get him to taper off on H.
He says the greed is too great.

However, now he has a better idea what amount he is using since the purchase of this spoon.
It was bought at a trade show at the kiosk that sells scissors and dental tools.
It is about 7 inches long, and fits nicely in the hand.

Can't post the image here because newbieness.
But, you can see a picture of the spoon when the modmins approve it.

Imagine not being precise on a drug forum.
The hat bets that never happens..
The spoon picture is in my hat's albums.

Re: Has anyone ever weaned off heroin with little to no withdrawal?

try to find something else to wean off with. SWIM thinks it can be done, but hard of course. see if SWIY can find a few bottles of methadone. be methodical and diligent. add a few xanax or klonopin to help take the edge off. how much/often is SWIY doing?

This does happen...but it's uncommon. Unless the user was only using for a short time or using a small amount W/Ds (quite uncomfortable) are common.
