Petitioning for subsidized vivitrol/naltrexone in the us.
Alright how the fuck do us swimmers go about doing something like this? If we could get enough support from people, and bombard the US government with it, we might be able to make a difference.
this would take a massive effort, and swim isnt sure it would be possible, but surely the means to an END for opiate addiction is everybodys entitlement yeah? in australia subsidies are available for things like this. back in the day swims doctor registered her for subsidized naltrexone as an "alcoholic". this meant that instead of over $200/month, it became $4.50, which is quite a godsend to somebody on a low income. without naltrexone swim firmly believes she wouldnt be clean today. in theory, if we could get some support from drug users, write to politicians, write to newspapers, then you never know, this could be within our grasp. things dont change unless the public kick up a stink, and between all of us, if some swimmers organized petitions and left them with needle exchanges, detox centres, counsellors, and the like, then maybe, just MAYBE we could change this for the better? or is swim on a long shot here. ![]() its worth a TRY in swims opinion. what do the other swimmers think? |

Re: Petitioning for subsidized vivitrol/naltrexone in the us.
Red Rock's doctor that gives him the shot has a plan (not sure if it's just his office or the state or government or what) that offers a lower fee if you qualify for "low income or being poor". Not sure how you go about this proceedure but Red Rock will ask next time he sees him in a few weeks. If Red Rock remembers correctly, the shot costs $800 without health insurance but with this plan, it would cost $450 or something of that nature (still expensive but better than $800.) Red Rock has health insurance and the co-pay is only 10% thus making the shot $80 a month which is much, much more affordable.
Red Rock will definitely ask his doctor about all of this next time he sees him. |

Re: Petitioning for subsidized vivitrol/naltrexone in the us.
if doctors speak up, the government will listen. anyone in healthcare, social work, psychology, even families and friends of addicts, and addicts themselves. would involve writing a one page letter minimum and putting it in the post to the local government/state government. i also think that if church people showed support, the US government would listen, and all it takes is one good churchy to spread the news to the congregation and plenty of support would be drummed up IMO. they are more likely to want to support people to stay clean, rather than have them on and off maintenance drugs for years.
