Question The Book of Revelations a Total Mushroom Trip?

Swivy has heard an interesting theory, and wondered if any other swimmers have heard the same.

The island that John was on (the Isle of Patmos?) was supposedly one that grew lots of fresh mushrooms naturally (Swiv has no way of knowing if this was the case so many thousands of years ago.) The part about John eating the little book the "angel" gave him (the "pages" were under the cap) and how it made his belly "bitter" sounds like he ate mushrooms(my tummy gets a bit upset on shrooms) . Then the craziness that ensues seems to be reminiscent of a very heavy trip on psychedelics. It could have been documentation of his own "apocalypse" (ego death--and his known life ending).

He may have gotten hungry after walking around this island, eaten these fresh mushrooms he happened upon and had the most "religious" experience of his entire life; watching his world end and interpreting it as a message from God about the actual "end of the world."

It's just a theory, and it's fun to think about, but has anyone else heard of this? It makes a bit of sense to Swiv. Anyone else?
