Flunitrazepam & Bromazepam
SWIM is a frequent but sporadic user of flunitrazepam and the active dose for him is about 2,5-3mg for hypnotic purposes. It happens to have 2mg available and he knows that he need “that” little extra that he doesn’t have. But he has access on plenty bromazepam pills. So he asks if it is safe for him to combine 2mg flunitrazepam with 1,5mg of bromazepam. He knows the dogma “don’t combine different benzos” but he asks if there is any precice terrible thing that might happen to him if he does the above mentioned combo. Is there here any professional to answer that question?

Re: Flunitrazepam & Bromazepam
To SWIY: They're two of the more dangerous benzos. Just get your hands on some klonopin and mix those. Or tilt a couple brews. SWIM hasn't tried these two himself but given what he has heard about them, a person would probably just fall alsleep and waste his bennies.

Re: Flunitrazepam & Bromazepam
Beer and flunitrazepam? Bad idea.
2mg of Flunitrazepam is a standard preparation, as the higher available dose in most regions of the world. 1.5mg Bromazepam is a relatively small dose. Doses of up to 6mg multiple times daily can be prescribed, though not without significant side-effect. Though neither is a very large dose, together they have a compounding, mutually potentiating effect; i.e. 1+1 = 3. The danger which exists from combining benzodiazepines (or in this case, a nitrobenzodiazepine and a benzodiazepine) lies in the compounded CNS-depressant effects. Both Flunitrazepam and Bromazepam have a profoundly inhibitory effect on basic functions such as respiration, cardiac activity and blood-pressure regulation. Combining significant amounts of both can lead to dangerous amounts of respiratory depression. That being said, neither of those is a massive dose-- with a minor tolerance, this should not be a significantly dangerous combination. To a benzo-naive individual, this might be dangerous, however. If SWIY does not have any tolerance, start low and work up. In the words of an esteemed member, "You can never untake a drug." |

Also 100% agree about the gradual increase in dosing- even if SWIY has gotten to know the family, the subtle differences pharmacologically may manifest themselves in not-so-subtle ways. |
