My Kobasica went through a day of horrible cold sweats and couldn't go on any longer without his fix. Quitting was just that hard.

Any SWIY's have any experiences they'd want to share? How long did it take to quit? Did they use anything else to help? See a doctor? Rehab?

Rehab seems really expensive.

he tried sleeping ... tried...
he watched movies... it helped a bit
he tried eating... which made him only mad

swims finds the best way is to book a holiday out of your country, a gulp of methadone for the first thre days, slowly tapering, and a few valium. 7 days and nights later, done.

SWIFlube - Can you elaborate on tapering? Did SWIFlube experiences much withdrawal while tapering?

if swiy can get methadone from someone in pills it would be ideal to get away to be far from temptation, but swiy can also do a methadone 21 day detox at a local clinic.

swim doesn't recomend this though, she tried the 21 day detox about 3 or 4 times at least and it never worked because she kept using on top of the methadone (the mental cravings are still there) and she finally ended up on methadone maintenance and has been on it for, hmm, at least 6-7 years.

anyways, a methadone taper, say swiy was using half a gram of heroin a day ... this is just an estimate but swiy should be okay with:

day 1 - 4 pills (40mg)
day 2 - 4 pills (40mg)
day 3 - 3 pills (30mg)
day 4 - 2.5 pills (25mg)
day 5 - 2 pills (20mg)
day 6 - 1 pill (10mg)
day 7 - .5 pill (5mg)

swiy shouldn't feel sick with this and should be able to sleep, of course this is a sliding scale depending on the size of the habit but in swims experience 6-7 days of methadone pills tapered in this way will usually do it and swiy can always try to get some clonodine and xanax (just 2-3 and break them in half), the methadone will hold swiy, the benzos will just ensure that swiy will definitely sleep and feel fine but they're not necessary.

Hi, a guy i know has been using the brown for a long time, on and off. He replapsed and had been using for around two months, daily. Around two bags via the foil per day, swim booked a holiday to thailand to see his girlfriend then purchaced 80 ml of methadone from swims local supplier. The rest of the day went fine, no sicky feelings, or dodgy rattle monkies. he even went to eat in a lovely seafood resturant in bangkok, and went on to have another nice sleep and wake feeling ok.

This time he took 15mls of methadone, and went on to enjoy the day without any problems.

Next morning swims friend was feeling a little sweaty, and was worried that he'd dropped his meth dose too low, and if his girlfriend found out he had been using the brown again, things might not go too well. As a few months prior, he'd done a cold turkey in thailand, which lasted a nice 8 days, puking and not sleeping, all the bad stuff. His girlfriend looked after him, but was not too impressed. He had read about how meth can take a long time to withdrawl from, and was wondering if he should of gone the cold turky route like before.

He decided to use the same 15mls as he knew about the half life of methadone, and did not want to use meth for no longer than 5 days.

After a few mins, the sweats had gone and went about feeling ok, and eating, drinking with no bad side effects, also no buzz. That night he slept like a baby, and was now only worrying about how he would feel after his last dose.

The last dose he took on day 5 was 10mls, again, he had a lovely day and evening, and thought that the half life must have been building and would take at least two days to get out of his system.

on day 6, he felt ok. a little sweaty, but no pain and could eat, sleep and feel human.

Day 7 was similar to day 6, but he was worried if he might start to rattle the next day. He sank a few beers and spent a good evening with his girlfriend and prepared for the worse. Sleep was fine.


day 8 my friend was very happy, as he hadnt been sick or had any sleeping problems.

day 9 - he felt a little depressed, but had no sickness, so he had managed to use methadone succesfully.

He enjoyed the rest of his holiday heroin or meth free, without any nasty rattle or sickness, and swears by the 5 day meth tech.

Nice, the only question being I honestly didn't think you could take liquids onto planes anymore? Also, was his sleep fine when finished the juice or was it time to come home then and back to booting?

Pleased it worked for swiy.
Swim has tried most combinations of "h", Methadone, and combos of both. She's tried using alcohol, DFs, Subutex, crack and speed and she always had to go through fairly painful W/D. The most painless was the last time, when swim planned it. She put everything in place she could find to cope with all the problems she found she'd had every time she'd quit and failed in the past.
She supposes it all depends on the time using, substances and amounts used and the person themselves.
Swim had four kids but she did hear that some women have totally painless childbirth. But she wouldn't swear that all other women are gonna be pain free.
Swim thinks it's possibly a rarity to get away virtually pain free in childbirth and W/D.

taken from TSA website, but in EJ short translation:

you can take 1 quart sized zip-top bag per passenger. the container sizes cant be more than 3.4oz. medications, baby formula and food, and breast milk are allowed in reasonable quantities exceeding 3 ounces, but must be declared.

Swim placed the methadone in a mouth wash bottle, swim left a little of the green colored mouth wash in the bottle to ensure if anyone opened the bottle, the smell would be identical to the Listerine green colored mouth wash. Swim packed the mouthwash bottle with other Toiletries in his check in case, not his hand luggage. As any liquids in the hand luggage are subject to check, and must not exceed 100mls, and can be confiscated or chucked away. Swim has used this method several times now (5+ times) and has never encountered a problem. Swim recently found out that you can get methadone (200 ml) from a local clinic in Bangkok same day for a small fee, the bottle comes with line increments indicating 10 ml doses, this will be handy for swim as he won’t need to take so much methadone with him now, just a single dose for landing. Swim was fine after taking his meth, and the rest of the holiday (2 month's) was spent opiate free, sleep was fine and everything was dandy. On returning to the uk, swim picked up the pipe again. So relapse is still a problem, but swim will be returning to Thailand in a month, and will be doing the same detox, and hopefully staying off opiates when swim returns. This works well for swim as he does not have contacts for dope in Bangkok, although he has in other area of Thailand, the last thing he will be dong is trying to peruse them with the mindset of getting clean when initially landing and seeing his family. Trying to get clean at home can be bothersome, as your man is only a call away, but when in another country, your man is going to be far far away. Happy detoxing.

SWIM thinks you can still take liquids onto planes, but only up to a certain amount. SWIM is not sure what that amount is. However, you san still take any amount of liquid onto a plane in the hold, but then you have the fear of the airline dropping your bag and all your methadone leaking away. So don't fly United!

But in all seriousness, whenever SWIM has been abroad, her doctor has scripted her Physeptone Methadone Tablets instead of the liquid. These tablets are, SWIM thinks, better for SWIY's purposes, as they are 5ml strength, so can be tapered down much more easily.

However, SWIM does not know what the prescribing practice is in SWIY's country regarding liquid vs tablets. Some countries do not prescribe tablets at all, as the potential for IV abuse is seen to be too high. (SWIM knows this sounds odd - one would think a liquid would be easier to inject, but the liquid meth is such a low concentration that the amount you'd have to inject to get high would be ridiculously large. But the tablets, however, are a stronger concentration, so some people attempt to crush them and hit them up.)
