Experiencing mania with small dosage Zoloft
Diagnosed with Dysthymia Disorder, PMDD, and Major Depression... Depression seems to run in my family & i had very rough teen years- experienced Depression & PTSD from a violent attack.. was diagnosed with depression at 14, but it has steadily gotten worse the older i get. i'm 27 now, and have been dealing with Major Depression.. Was scared off from antidepressants after trying Lexapro and Effexor and both gave me "mania" side effects. Been taking Zoloft now for 9 weeks, once at 50mg i started losing weight, no appetite, wasnt sleeping well and also made me start stuttering (which i've never had a problem with stuttering in my life). dr told me to keep going since they could be side effects that go away. once I started the 100mg i had terrible terrible mania.. felt like i was going crazy. my brain wouldn't stop, i was constantly fidgiting, and felt like things were just coming out of my mouth, sometimes really innappropriate... like a kid with no filter. dr told me to go back to 50mg, but still was having mania feelings, so i went back down to 25mg. this whole time i haven't felt my depression improve any, although i noticed my PMDD symptoms improved.
i read experiencing mania while taking an anti depressant can be a sign of bipolar, but i looked at the symptoms of that and although i can be wild sometimes, i don't know if i am bipolar. if i am i've only had minimal episodes of mania. also i've never had a problem with sleeping until starting the zoloft and infact, before zoloft i slept way too much.
any suggestions on what i can do? this major depression is killing me and my marriage.. i need something !
