SWIM has for some time now wanted to obtain some Adderall for his Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, type Inattentive. His ADD has been problematic for him since elementary school. SWIM plans to soon speak to a psychiatrist about this.

However, ADD isn't the only problem SWIM has been facing in his lifetime. SWIM believes that he also suffers from hypersomnia, because he 'needs' 11-13 hrs of sleep a night. If he sleeps 8-10 hours a night, he still feels tired throughout the day. He read an article on Wikipedia that hypersomnia is present if an adult SWIM sleeps more than 10 hrs a night on a regular basis. This is definitely true for this SWIM. He is not taking any drugs which could cause this condition. The article states that stimulants are sometimes prescribed to treat this condition; SWIM just wanted to ask if any SWIYs have had success with Adderall treating hypersomnia/chronic oversleeping. Simply put, SWIM has lost so much out of his life due to this 'hypersomnia,' and it will continue to plague him unless something changes.

Also, for anySWIYs with (particularly atypical) depression taking Adderall, have you noticed any therapeutic benefits? SWIM is pretty certain he isn't clinically depressed, but he is just curious if his 'hypersomnia' and potentially other mental conditions would be alleviated once he gets his prescription for his ADD. He is primarily concerned with experiences of SWIY of Adderall as a therapeutic drug, not recreationally.
