Re: Hawaiian Baby Woodrose basics
Just a mention on the storage issue, Santa had his first try not too long ago, with seeds that he had stored for over 6 years!
He first tried one some day, to taste them. Then another day, he had the remaining 6 and they WERE pretty potent.. |

Re: Hawaiian Baby Woodrose basics
Swim stored his Morning glory seeds out of light and in a dark box with a sealed plastic bag so guesses it would be the same for Hawaiian Baby Woodrose.
Swim is thinking of getting some more Hawaiian Baby Woodrose seeds and can only seem to get them by gram weight and is wondering how many seeds 5g is? Or is this not a valued question? |

Re: Hawaiian Baby Woodrose basics
Santa forgot to mention that for six years his seeds were inside a common sealed plastic bag, which had a hole on it too, and kept inside a simple office drawer. The same place for summers, winters, etc..

nice add. fyi, freezer storage is what the Seed Banks preserve viability with.
Quote:
it is typical for plant seeds to vary even if they are same species. strains within the species can be twice the size of each other. i am guessing 4-6 per gram is typical for the preferred kind of HBWR. |

Seed is made non-viable on purpose for birdfood, but I do not know if they use morning glory seeds for birds. If the birdseed is non-viable, then that means when it spills from the feeder, then it will not sprout in the middle of the flowerbed or lawn. I don't know if it's bad to eat this kind of treated seed.
Seeds that get treated with fungicides or innoculents shouldn't be eaten. Sometimes that seed is colored from the treatment it gets but not always. |
