Opinions - How does SWIM dry poppy pods?

When drying poppy pods should SWIM cut fresh ones off of their stocks and let them dry or should he let them just die and dry while still in the ground and then cut them off their stocks?

One should also note he would like to know which way will leave the most alkaloids in the poppy as well. The poppies in question are also tasmanian purples.

SWIYou should pick them while they're most potent and dry them out on his own. The poppies only need the alkaloids to protect the seeds as they mature. Once they mature, the plant starts breaking down and/or stopping production. SWIM would not recommend drying them with the stocks by hanging them. They tend to release seeds as they dry and you both waste seeds and make a mess.
