Rohypnol (IV or sublingual) shown effective to combat dentistry anxiety

Toothbrush, floss and flouride rinse/paste are quite effective in preventing cavities and it's best to avoid getting them, but should they develop, a type of benzodiazepine called "Rohypnol" is shown to be effective for calming patients through dental procedure.

Two studies show Rohypnol is effective in calming dental anxiety.

a 1990 Japanese study of 526 out-patient dental patients reports that 84% of the subjects prefer Rohypnol IV sedation over non-sedation and only two patients in the pool stated they'd refuse the sedation All patients were responsive when they were talked to or given a gentle tap on the shoulders.

About half the patients reacted to or complained about pain associated with local anesthetic injection, however over 80% had no memory of receiving local anesthetic injection after they were done with the treatment. *1

A 1998 Norwegian study of 24 dental patients sedated by sublingually administered Rohypnol indicated that it was significaintly more effective than placebo and preferred by both dentists and patients. *2
