Opinions - 7 days and 50mg xanax+200mg valium.Is a Taper needed?

My cat has something she really needs to ask you all:

"Just wondering If I better start looking for some more benzos to avoid wd/excessive rebound anxiety (I am naturally extremely high strung and have anxiety/panic attacks when not on opiates)

I completed a Opiate detox almost 2 weeks ago and have been using benzos to sort of cope with the high strung behavior that I started on opiates for in the first place. In my mind it was, hey at least I am off the opiates so whatever gets me through.

I have been eating daily 2-4mg, sometimes 6mg xanax in the morning followed by another 2mg or 4mg usually later on in the day, and I may throw in 40mg-60mg of Valium also. It has been sort of sporatic since I didn't really measure them out into daily doses. Some days I am sure I did better and used less of them. to get an idea, I started the week on Monday with 50 1mg xanax and 20 10mg valium, I have 4 10mg valium left.

Either way I have been in a benzo state for only the 7 days or so I think. As I said I am VERY high strung when off heroin or methadone so I wasn't really feeling the benzos and probably took more then I should over this time. I am aware of that already, yes I should use more control.

My question is, is this enough time to get a benzo habit usually? It hasn't even been 2 weeks. Today I have to decide on spending money on more benzos to taper with or buying some supplements to sort of help me calm down naturally, can't afford both due to not working during the detox.

If you guys have some suggestions for supplements that would be nice also. Remember I am also trying to heal my brain from 10+ years of heroin and methadone so my body is going through a lot right now as it is.

In case anyone is wondering, the reason I don't get a presciption to benzos for my anxiety and hypomania is because I always abuse my medications. So this wasn't meant to be a long term solution.

I also used to abuse benzos with my opiates when I was actively using. So it just makes it hard for me to use them properly."
