EEK! Blown vein bruise and MD visit upcoming

About two weeks ago Lizard got some powder morphine and decided to IV it using the syringes he got at the needle exchange, along with his naloxone.

On his third time, about 5 days ago, he blew a vein on his left forearm (underside). He waited for it to subside, but right now he has an ugly bruise, about the size of a dollar coin.

The problem is that he has to go in for outpatient surgery tomorrow! So far, he's kept his health care and drug use separate, but he can see that ending real soon. (Incidentally, he imagines he'd test positive for opiates and THC if tested).

So, I'm asking those more knowledgable (on his behalf):

1. Is it possible to "pass this off" as (say) an auto-repair mishap?
2. What are the consequences of his use being public info?
3. Any chance the sugery will be postponed? (He's hoping not, even if it means disclosure).

Finally, he feels IM injection (like he was taught for the naloxone) a lot more managable (and stealthy), but everything he's read says IM is much less tolerant of even traces of non-sterility. Is this a viable alternative to IV if one uses sterile needle, cooker, water, plus boils the drug sol'n?

FWIW, he feels he probably won't IV or IM at all anymore...the only reason he did it this time is because he had a high level of confidence regarding the purity of the M from his source.

(P.S. He feels exceedingly stupid...)

P.P.S. Just to clarify, he used 28G 0.5cc needles, not some big honkin' IM needle. Also, he wonders if "mishap involving plasma donation" is a better sell.
