Vaporizing ethnobotanicals more effective then smoking?
It started with a lightbulb vaporizer made last night, then smoking Lactucarium from it. Then ideas began forming in my mind.... Catnip from the vaporizer, Valerian from the vaporizer. SWIM quickly began questioning other plants as well. Nutmeg for example. The active chemical in it is a volitile oil SWIM does believe. If the oil could be vaporized from the nutmeg and inhaled similiar to Catnip, could the effects be more noticable and more quickly felt? And what about Coleus Blumei? Some say that smoking the leaves kills the active components. Perhaps heating up the plant enough to allow the (unknown) chemicals to be realeased and inhaled will allow more of the chemicals to be ingested by the human body.
Does anyone know ANYTHING about this subject? SWIM is thinking about experimenting with the Coleus idea tonight and seeing if it works. Will give opinions on that later. May also try Nutmeg at a later date (will respond if SWIM actually SURVIVES that one :P All in the name of the drug community!).(PS Just got done looking up Nutmeg on Erowid, btw. One chemical may be carcinogenic, and others do not have a low melting point. Sounds promising. > ![]() Mickeld added 890 Minutes and 1 Seconds later... Smoked catnip out of Vaporizer with Lactucarium. Very noticeable BUZZ, but tasted alot like OFF insect repellant! Also ALOT easier on the throat (as in NO burning sensation in back of throat) then smoking catnip from a pipe or bong. May try Coleus tonight. Still iffy about trying to Vaporize Nutmeg till a later date, and more information is gained. Last edited by Mickeld; 12-07-2009 at 20:07. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

Re: Vaporizing ethnobotanicals more effective then smoking?
Very interesting, SWIM has ordered many ethnos and when they arrive he will be trying several methods of ingestion, this information will be valuable and he will try to add to it soon.

Re: Vaporizing ethnobotanicals more effective then smoking?
Recently tried smoking Coleus and legal bud off of legal buds dot com. SWIM believe Jamaican haze? Anyways both methods were horrible and neither produced a great deal of smoke, they were far to moist. Will try again in the future.
