Opinions - Pure Grain Alcohol vs 80/100 proof vodka for pod tinc.

I tried using the search and did't get too much luck.

I've been doing a bunch of research on tinctures from this and many other forums. I'm a little confused because samuraigecko's godzilla laudanum tek suggests 40percent (80proof) alc. But it seems just about everywhere else people suggest the highest proof Everclear availible, 151 if not 190proof.

They claim the everclear is far superior in extracting alkaloids compared to some basic smirnoff 80 or 100 proof.

I plan on making a tincture but i'd like opinions from those who have some experience in the matter.

oh and to add..

on another forum they suggest that the pure grain alc (everclear) is better than vodka because it has a lot less water in it, and thus doesn't extract the fats and tannins form plant material.
